Collecting All The People You Love To Sing You A Song

I spent forever last night trying to put together an outfit. I think I am just having one of those uninspired streaks. I hate everything I try on, and I have trouble coming up with new combinations. It will pass! And I did finally come up with something I loved…

I forget I have this skirt. Why are some wardrobe elements prone to being forgotten? My theory is that it is a staple, and staples are boring.

My feet are not actually as small as all that, these shoes are just shaped in such a way they make me look like I have Barbie feet.

I am mostly posting this close up for Hillary and Alannah, who will both appreciate it!

That’s a limited edition Tokidoki for Lesportsac bear, a Tokidoki key chain and a kid robot munny on a clip together. I wanted it to be a wee bit over the top. Success.

So I’ve been wearing two different earrings (well technically two different earrings and one cuff). I seem to be the only one on board with this style choice. Nathan is not a fan, and co-workers are not big on the look. But I like it. I can’t even pinpoint why, other than it’s different, and not too outrageous and I love earrings. I only made one of each of these. The double ball earring I have worn every day with one hoop or another and I always wear the cuff (which I know is hardly visible, but there) on the same ear as the double earring. So basically only the left side changes. I don’t know. I like it.

Your Skin Is Black Metallic

It’s been raining since yesterday afternoon. It’s not awesome when you have to get out in it, but it sure was nice last night when I was sleeping. I love the sound of the rain when it’s time to sleep. It’s so soothing to hear from your nice warm bed.

The rain makes for bad a dark morning and a dark morning makes for difficult photos, but I think we got a couple we can work with.

I love this hoodie. I got it at the height of my Tokidoki crazy and at the time I thought it would be the thing I got the least use out of, but in the end I wear it more than I carry any of the bags. It’s warm, and a great shape and size, and for some reason, I can wear it around the house and it won’t end up covered in dog hair*.

The print on the hoodie was called “cammo” or something, and I guess it does sort of look like camouflage from far away but close up it’s all bullets and rainbows, skulls and stars with faces in the background.

I made a necklace from one of the Tokidoki zipper pulls off one of my bags, because this little fanged flower was one of my favorite characters and I thought it was a shame to waste such a cutie on a zipper pull no one looked at.

I don’t have any plans tonight at all. Last week and weekend I was really busy, and it was fun. This weekend I am hoping to mostly just relax, clean and watch TV. I know it sounds boring and lame but I’m looking forward to it. What are your big (or small) weekend plans?

*I do not wear my regular clothes in my house, ever. When I have friends over I have special house jeans I wear, but my normal nice clothes come off the second I get home. I change into pajama bottoms and a tee, tank or hoodie. I love my dog to bits, but he sheds like crazy and I prefer he not have a relationship with my clothes at all. He is a cutie though...

The State Fair

We go to The State Fair every year. It’s always hard to dress for because it’s in October and the days start and finish cold, but hit right about scorching in the middle sometimes. Layers are a must.

This year I went with a casual dress, leggings, a knit jacket and of course, cowboy boots. It’s the TEXAS State Fair, after all.

Outfit 1

Outfit 2

This outfit served me well. We had a long day of fun, shows and FOOD.
We ate and drank:

Fried Butter (balls of butter frozen, wrapped in dough and deep fried)

Cotton Candy

2 very large plastic cups of boxed White Zinfandel. (Because we like to keep it classy.)

Diet Coke

Pork Chips (I ate these solo; thin sliced pork, battered in peppered corn meal and deep friend, served with mustard. These were my favorite of the day)

2 Large Iced SWEET teas

Green Goblins (Cherry Peppers, stuffed with Spicy Chicken and guacamole, battered, deep fried and covered in queso. SO GOOD)

Green Goblins

Nathan Goblin 2

Fired Texas Pecan Pie

Honey Sticks

And I think that covers it.

People approach The Fair in all different ways. Some people are there for the food only. Some the rides, the games, or the art. Nathan and I concentrate on the shows, and we saw several:

Pirates (Comedic High Dive Dare devil troupe)

The Dog Show (Frisbee acrobatics, diving and races)

African Acrobats

The BMX Stunt Show

The Car Show

MUSIC SEEN: ROCK 'N' ROLL PHOTOJOURNALISTS (Featuring Rock and Roll: Lynn Goldsmith And It’s Always Rock and Roll: The Work of Photojournalist Janet Macoska)

The Butterfly Gardens

The Parade

The Light Show

We had a great time and were so glad to get home to the comfort of our bed and our electric blanket after the cold we endured for the Parade and Light Show, but it was worth it. We can’t wait til next year!

Gift Bag

I wasn’t going to do an outfit post this day. I was wearing jeans and a tee.
Not very interesting. But then Nathan came home. And he wanted to go get dinner, AND, he had brought me a gift. He had thrifted this gorgeous suede and leather vintage bag for me. It’s by Naturalizer and it looks like it was never even carried.

I. Love. It.

I’m not much for going out in jeans and a tee, but I didn’t really want to change, so I threw on a sweater and a scarf.
