Take A Flying Saucer Trip To The Stars In My Eyes

This little wooden staircase is going to spend the next 6 months trying to convince me that there IS a time of day when the sun shines in just the right way to take good pictures there.

1.11.11

And I’ll believe it, because I want to believe it. Because it is SUCH a great place and the branches will slowly fill in and wouldn’t that be super cool to watch from season to season?

1.11.11

It’s such a romantic little spot. It’s also a LIAR and will never, ever deliver the shots it promised. And I’ll stop going to it, but I’ll remember the good times, when I believed.

1.11.11

Even though the truth is the pics are just OK and the lighting is never going to be right.

And then I have to go and take quick pictures over by a FENCE. An ugly fence. I have one of those at HOME, Little Wooden Staircase, I didn’t need to come all this way for THIS.

1.11.11

It was about 27 degrees in my house this AM, and I was scampering about in my skivvies trying to find ANYTHING to put on my body to stop being so cold. And that’s how this outfit came about. I think it only about 60% works. I like the tank with the pants but when you add the cardigan it gets a bit frumpy. But it was warm and I have to say that was pretty much all that mattered.

1.11.11

Also, after taking these, my hands burned like FIRE they were so cold. Then they looked like little lobster claws for like 2 hours. How do you DO it Canadians/Mid-Westerners? So miserable.

Some Girls Mothers Are Bigger Than Other Girls Mothers

This outfit is Not Good. Not good at all. The blouse does not fit. It rides up over my bust and looks ridiculous and after today I am adding it to the “out” pile. I love it so much it’s hard to give it up, but it is not doing me any favors. Plus the proportions on the jeans and cardigan are not flattering at all. So I’m not loving it. I am however stuck in it for the rest of the day.

12.22.10

I’ll tell you this though; it’s just a bad outfit. It’s not who I am or what I am. Me personally? I’m still pretty awesome.

And Later On I’ll Cry My Stupid Eyes Out

Eh. I was not happy with how this turned out. I was excited because it was finally cool enough to wear this jacket that Nathan bought for me, but I had already planned the rest of the outfit. I should have taken a minute and reconsidered my options, and chosen something more suited to the jackets style, OR waited to wear the jacket until I had time to plan around it. But…I didn’t. And this was the result.

September 27

It’s not horrid. It’s just not my best effort, which is a shame, because I love the jacket. The jacket is ill-suited to the dress, and the dress and boot combo would have looked better with taller socks.

It’s OK. They can’t all be winners!

Awkward

Awkward is an awkward looking word. Have you ever noticed that?

Oh. honey no. has been running a series this week called “Dressing Without Fear” and last week I promised to play along. In her own words:

"well, next week, starting monday, i’m challenging myself. each day i will dress to conquer my fears. i will either find a way to make a piece i thought was “too fancy” work for my casual workplace, or i will try a trend i haven’t mustered the guts to wear in public yet, or something, but i will do SOMETHING each day to get those feelings in check. because i will not be cowed by fashion, something that i firmly believe is meant to be fun and make you feel good.”

So. This dress was my choice. I never wear it to work because it feels both too fancy and too girly. I really only like it with my cropped moto jacket to give it some edge. But I wanted to try and give it a shot.

August 13

I toned it down by wearing a black leather belt instead of the self belt that came with it. I reallllllly think I would have liked this outfit 100% better if I had been able to wear a studded black leather belt with it. I think it would have made all the difference, but I don’t own one. So I couldn’t. (I should really own one. I know that now.)

August 13

Don’t get me wrong. I got a ton of compliments. Everyone seemed to like it. But I felt off. I felt a little not myself. I had dinner with Tina* (jealous? I would be) and she pointed out that even without the jacket, the tattoo rocks it up a bit (sorry I failed to get a pic, but you know what it looks like). And she’s right. I just don’t think it was enough for me.

I do love this dress. I have worn it to art showings and parties and felt great. I just think that in the end, it turns out, without that studded belt, it is in fact too dressy and girly for me personally to wear to the office. BUT I am glad I tried. Because now I know how I’d like to style it next!

I did like these shoes and earring with it, and will keep them next time I wear it...

August 13

I did not like that handbag with it. It was dark when I got dressed and it seemed like a good plan to tie the shoes in, but it wasn’t. It just made it that more awkward.

*Ahahaha. I just saw her post for today and she talks about how much she loved this dress. I find it hilarious that I am sort of semi-bashing it (in the context, I still LOVE the actual dress)

Hated It

I have nothing nice to say about this outfit.

6/4/09 Hated It

I still hate this dress. I even came home at lunch and tried changing belts.
Still hate it.
It is officially up for swap.

These shoes tempted me with their cuteness but betrayed me with their horrible plastic feeling. They didn’t hurt or anything, they just felt plastic.

6/4/09

Also going up for swap (they should make some vegan fashionista very happy)

This outfit basically ruined my day, it was THAT bad.

Just a dress

I want to love this dress. It’s flattering, it’s a pretty color, the fabric is really nice. But I just feel very “meh” about it.

April 30

I know it’s a nice dress, I just don’t particularly care for the way it looks on me. I feel boring.

April 30

I think I might sign up for the swap group over on flickr and start with this dress. It’s not worthless, and I’ve seen other girls look quite cute in it, but I think it’s just somehow not my style.

April 30

I do love these shoes though. I have them in black as well, and the black are leather while these are not. I do wish they were leather but they are comfortable and cute, and they have held up really well.

April 30

This skull bead necklace is another one I made because I was bored with my outfit options. I often make a new piece of jewelry to wear and then build an outfit around that when I am bored or uninspired. It’s really nice to be able to do that and it gives me somewhere to start on an otherwise uninspired day.

April 30

I plan to replace some of the cheaper looking gold chain when I get my chain order in, but overall I really love how it came out.

April 30

I have a bracelet on each wrist because I over compensate with this dress, I try to accessorize my way into feeling good in it.

April 30

April 30

But I really think it’s time to just give up on it. Or perhaps put it away until winter and see if I can come up with a better way to wear it then. Or maybe just swap it. ;)

Denim Jacket Failboat

I didn’t love this outfit. I didn’t hate it either. I just didn’t love it. I think I might have loved it on someone else, but it just wasn’t very “me”.

March 19

And I am 98% sure it was the jacket.

March 19

I don’t like denim jackets, really. I only have this because all the books tell me you “should” have a denim jacket. I also don’t love the light wash on it.

I do like random neon lights in my pictures though!

March 19

And this necklace Lara over at Fashionate made me.

March 19

And my favorite “Love Erin Designs” bird earrings.

And I love the skirt.

I will try this outfit again really soon, but with a different topper. I think I might like it that way.

90s dress

So I’m not sure anyone but me is really up for this style coming back. But I love it. I found it at a thrift store for a couple bucks. I didn’t really have the curves for this style when I was younger, so I was excited that it looked so good on me. And our weather has been crazy cold one day and warn and sunny the next for a while now, which is why I was able to wear it with no sweater.

Nov 24

I know it would look better with my brown boots with heels, and I intend to wear the heels Friday to Nathan’s office party. We are supposed to come dressed as a decade and we choose the nineties. Nathan has this HORRIBLE Kurt Cobain sweater:

ugly sweater
(I stole this photo from Lara)

I am so not a fan of that sweater. But the guitar ups the hot factor.

Anyway. This day I wore it with flat boots, because we were running errands all day

Nov 24

And of course, knee highs.

This bag is another Goodwill find. Fossil, leather and so soft. And a great smaller size for those days I don’t need to have a book and an iPod and blah blah blah. AND I also got it in sage green!

Nov 24

I did try a sweater on before I knew how warm it was, but it was a great big MISS in my opinion and I traded it for an Alternative Apparel wrap after I saw this pic and before we left the house. I hated the silhouette on this.

Nov 24

But I still love these earrings!~
Nov 21

And I thought they looked great with this dress.
