I Can Totally Get Away With It.

So I think I’ve mentioned it before but I am not a fan of people claiming that they love something but “can’t get away with it”. I dislike it because I feel like you should like what you like and wear what you want. I’m not taking about wearing things that are unflattering, or not right for your body type. I’m talking about being brave, stepping outside of the box and having fun.

However, I will accept that not everyone can get away with this dress.



The top is a floral linen.


The bottom is a tribal cotton.


The zipper is gold and aqua.


I can get away with it, and I will. :D

I adore this dress.




When my husband was helping me out of it (undoing the hook at the top) he commented on how well made it is. The top is boned and the bottom is beautifully gathered.

I did wear a wrap at the office.


And a bib at lunch.


I just felt so pretty and curvy and fabulous all day. The skirt swishes in the best way.

I also wore this beetle pendant. I got the pendant at the craft store this weekend for $3.99! All I had to do was throw it on some chain. How perfect does it look with this?


I also wore my signature turquoise bird.

And an amazing leather bag from my trip to Mexico last year.

Not Listening

At some point I wore this dress, maybe last winter? And I got more than one comment saying that it was unflattering on me. I didn’t listen.



I love the cut on this dress, the way it nips in at the waist, like a giant wide belt.



And I love pockets in a dress.







This bunny pendant was the very first thing that I bought from Haute Hardware. It was on a shorter chain, because that was really the style then. I moved it to a longer chain to make it more versatile because I just love it. I found that once it was longer and I could see it, I worry it all day. I love having something to worry.

Art of Happiness

So my favorite artist also happens to be my next door neighbor. I bought two of his pieces at a show a while back before we really knew each other. I now have 4 total. I just adore his style. It is at once happy, bright, and fun as well as dark, desperate and sad. Saturday we went to a showing of his work in Oak Cliff.

It is one of my top 5 possessions.

Here is what I wore to the show. I loved this outfit.



It was casual and comfortable but dressy enough to feel good.



I also love that the dress is simple enough that the focus is on the fabulous handmade bag Erin at Haute Hardware made and the necklaces from both our shops. (Love Erin Designs and Haute Hardware at Etsy)



These are the MOST comfortable shoes. These were a bit pricy to be honest but I feel like they were money well spent.

Dressing in the Dark.

(more new followers! Hello! :D)

The storm knocked out our electricity so I got dressed in the dark yesterday (and, well today too, since we are STILL without power, but you’ll have to wait for those pics). It’s not my best effort ever, but it’s not my worst and I don’t feel too bad about the results. It was super dark. I was lucky to get dressed at all. I do wish I remembered to take photos of the bun, it was pretty awesome yesterday.



Yep, those are the same pair I wore the other day. You can tell from the baggy knees, but it was dark, and I knew what they were, so I put them on.
