Old is New Again

Speaking of wearing things in a different way…I love this dress, but I tend to wear it with the same couple of things. My Alternative Apparel cardigan or a Temperly London for Target jacket I like. But the cardigan is in the hamper, and the jacket is in the dry cleaning bag. So I had to branch out.

March 2, Day 146

That’s the only shot I got of the blazer open. I had a long day and I just wasn’t thinking. It looks like I am brushing my hair back but if you look closer you can see I’m on the phone. I was talking to Alannah. (I always try and remember to hold the phone away from my face because if I don’t, I break out.) But seriously...how long are my legs in this dress? What's not to love?

March 2

I felt really good in the outfit. I felt stylish.

March 2

I’m wearing my giant Cicada earrings again, and missing my old co-worker Lucinda, who hated them SO MUCH. She had a code. If she hated it, she told me it was “Interesting”. If you are reading this and you still see her, tell her I miss her face!

Same Dress, Different Day

One of the things that I really struggle with in stretching my wardrobe is seeing pieces in a different light.

I enjoyed this dress so much on Thursday that I wore it again Sunday. I wore it without the jeans to church, but I added the jeans before I ran errands because it was so cold.

March 1

I’m not normally real big on jeans with a dress, but occasionally I find a combination that works for me.

I feel kind of bad for these boots. They are spectacular vintage boots from Neiman Marcus that I got at Good Will for 5 bucks. Or maybe Salvation Army. One or the other though.

But all you ever see is this:

Alannah got me this bag for my birthday. You can’t really see it, but the clasp is this ridiculous tunrlock thing more suited to a bank vault. It is AWESOME. And fun to play with. And the leather? Like BUTTER.

My 2nd favorite Haute Hardware piece…

And that’s that!~ I really want to focus on trying to mix it up and wear things a different way, I have been feeling sorry for myself because I can’t shop like I used to, and it’s just silly.

Too Little House on the Prairie

I called Erin when I got in this morning and told her that every time I wear this I remember how she tried on the ecru version and deemed it “Too Little House on the Praire”*. And then I got the black. And she says she doesn’t think that about the black, but I still hear her say it every time I wear it, and it makes me giggle**.

That said, I love this dress. I feel thin and curvy and fabulous in it. SO fabulous I broke out the “high fashion pose”***

One of my very favorite combos is the all black outfit, brown shoes and bag. I think it really makes the accessories pop.

This jacket is a vintage wonder. In perfect condition, and all of $12 at a thrift store. AND it has remained flattering after my weight loss. Which I am glad for as it would be reallllllllyyyy expensive to tailor, I’m afraid.****

*Kasmira has the ecru and it looks fabulous on her and NOT Too Little House on the Prairie at all.

**Bernadette and Erin and I had all gone to Target on our lunch break to scope out the Jovovich Hawke collection. And Erin tried on a swimsuit. With tights. And walked out to use the 3 way mirror, and then I laughed about it ALL day, and she went home, did a flashy jazz pose in the tights and swimsuit and sent a picture of it to my phone…and THIS memory is probably what I am ACTUALLY laughing at.

***This pose makes me think of my sister in law Michelle, who has a Bridal portrait in this pose. And looks fabulous enough to make a girl jealous doing it.

****Oh, nothing. I just really wanted another footnote. :D

H&M Blazer

I have a lot of dresses, that when I put them on, I think, “This dress was so much longer when I bought it.”

I know that can’t be true, since I know I didn’t wash it in hot water, and I didn’t dry it. (I wash my dresses on delicate and hang them to dry. ALL of them. I never dry clean, I never dry). So I must have some sort of short circuit that makes dresses seem longer in the store. Because it seems at home, they are all sort of walking a very fine line!

Bernadette took my pictures today, and oh my goodness did my boots get dirty!~

I like the shape this outfit give me a LOT.

I’m not big on this full on smile, but I must admit, I do look happy. And skinny. I love you H&M blazer.

And just in case you think that’s a plain ol boring black blazer, it’s not.
It’s dotty!~
