Life Has Been A Drag

Just a couple quick pics today. I basically spend all day every day calling either the insurance company or the collision repair place. I get a different story every time. No one has any real answers. I have no idea what to do anymore, but I’m pretty much at my breaking point. I woke up at 3:00 AM this morning and just laid in bed and wondered what I am supposed to do if they total my car*

I wish I had something less moody and sad to share, but that’s where I’m at, kids.
November 16

Oh hey. It is actually cold-ish out! I better add a scarf and actually put these glove ON.

November 16
That’s better.

*When they total your car they give you a check for what the car is “worth”. For instance, my car was “worth” about $3000. Now to ME it was worth a lot more than that. It was paid off, and reliable and had a good 2 years left in it. But the money they will give me will pay for at best, a semi-reliable used car with a lot of miles on it. I can’t afford to by a new car right now, since Nathan has been out of work since last December.

Oh dear, I am so sorry. This has happened to me twice already! They did total my car(s) both times and in the end it worked out OK...I got a sweet deal on a nice Honda...! Only paid $3500 for a 02 ...just keep your eyes out for good deals...I actually got mine from Craig's List (weird, I know) and I've had it for over a year now with no problems! Good luck, and your outfit is fab!

When I tell you that YOU LOOK BAD AS HELL in this outfit! I mean it! YOu should wear those gloves all day! Everywhere, to work, To eat lunch, to do your hair! I seriuosly this is my favorite look on you...oh wait, I think my other fave look involves this jacket, you wore it with a 50's style Seing dress.

Those gloves! That Jacket...That scarf! Loves it all!!

And insurance companies all suck!

* Sorry, I meant "swing" dress...Not Seing dress!

I love this look, especially with the gloves and scarf! So chic, but edgy. My FAVE!
BTW, I about died over your dream the other night! Too, too funny! Thanks for sharing!

Wow:( I completely understand the predicament you are in. I do hope things get better. A car is so important and it sucks to not have one.

btw, you look incredibly awesome. You may feel blah, but you look wowza! Love the glove/scarf touch. It's like rock n' roll chic!

I saw the pictures before I read your post, and my first thought was: "Wow - now that's a confident 'I mean business' look! I want that dress"... so after reading the post, I hope the outfit brought you the confidence you need! I'm very tempted to trade you my car for that dress, however, I'm pretty sure that my father (the car's owner) and my boyfriend (who would have to chauffeur me around) would have a problem with it. Not to mention you live half a continent away!

Hey stranger,

I just wanted to say that:
a) you look amazing. I love that dress!

b) I know how you feel with the whole car situation. Mine got totaled when I got in an accident while I was in college and while the insurance company thought they were giving me a huge sum of money (and threatening to drop me because I'm a "risk", even though it wasn't my fault), it meant less to me because my car was already paid off and I planned to have it last me at least until I got out of college.

I hope things work out in your favor soon!

i hope the whole car issue gets resolved soon and in your favor. *sends out positive vibes*

I reiterate what everyone says, the bright spot is you look FABULOUS!

But keep your spirits up... if they do total it, you WILL figure something out. You are a smart, daring, creative lady, so you'll deal with what ever you are dealt with grace a tenacity I am sure of it!!

Lady, you look FANTASTIC and those gloves are making me drool. Cold comfort, I'm sure, with all the car rigamarole ... please keep us posted. I sure hope the outcome is in your favor. Car stuff can really sap your energy.

Oh, that sucks about your car - good luck! I hate dealing with money issues.

On the plus side, wow, you look fabulous in this! The dress is amazing on you, and I'm drooling over the gloves.

This just happened to me! I got into an accident a few months ago, and in the end the car was totaled. It wasn't enough to pay for a new car so now I'm driving around my parent's mini-van until I can save enough for a down payment. Ug cars! Good Luck with yours!

Sad story about the car, I'm so sorry; but, you look absolutely gorgeous, so at least some comfort for you!

I don't know what to say anymore--I just can't believe that you have to deal with this. I really hope this will get resolved soon (and with POSITIVE results). I am sending you all the good vibes in the world. I love you!

Insurance companies can suck, and dealing with car problems can be stressful. Hope you're able to work things out quickly and with a result you're happy with.

On the plus side, you look awesome today. I love that outfit! The dress and the jacket are great.

Oh no! My car got totaled last year (in a hit and run no less) and since it was only body damage, they offered me $4500 total or $3500 AND THE CAR! I took the car! It's been a year and it runs perfect (although the back end is um, embarassing to say the least)! We just celebrated 120,000 miles together!

That really sucks about the crap that has happened to you this year.

But I do love your look in this post. It makes me think of Mrs. Peel.

I'm so sorry about your accident :( We went through this a few years ago and ended up sharing a car for two years until we saved up for another one. I, too, had a reliable car that was totaled b/c it was older. I hope everything works out.
And you look SUPER chic by the way. I am LOVING that dress with the jacket and booties. This could be my favorite outfit ever on you :)

This outfit ROCKS on you !!!

In the UK you can refuse to settle with the insurance and argue them up on the offer.

When my car was wreaked in an accident I wrote saying I was willing to accept the same vehicle fixed and back on the road. Or a vechicle of precisely the same spec, milage and value (with full service history and no problems).
Or a settlement figure higher then the one they offered (although still reasonable).

It took a little time, but they settled with me at my number, not theirs. It may be worth doing some research. I've found in the UK most people don't realise the insurance is a service, if you aren't happy you can ask for better service. Too many people just accept the figure the insurance company offer up and think they can't change that.
