Yesterday, I was reading Already Pretty, as I do almost every day, and Sal was discussing a designer she loves, Dana LeBlanc Designs, and featuring Ms. LeBlanc’s gorgeous, chunky, candy colored pieces. Go have a look, they are divine. It made me think of a piece I made, years ago, for myself. I used all of the leftover stones from a couple years worth of designing, and strung them together on a four strand choker, my tribute to the classic pearl necklace, but tricked up for me.
I still love that piece, and I could never part with it. I think there is only one other like it in the world, and that one lives with Alannah. I’m pretty sure. (Alannah will correct me if I’m wrong. But I can't imagine I made one for anyone other than her, it was difficult and time consuming and really expensive.) But the problem was this: it was a choker, and I tend to gravitate towards longer pieces now. Only, it wasn't a problem at all. I simply removed the clasp, inserted some chain and instantly made something I love wearable again.
I had this outfit sort of planned in my head with a much simpler coral beaded necklace, but since I had altered this one, I swapped it in and I think it works really well.
I am going to try and remember to wear boots as often as I can this Spring, because I have so many of them and come Summer they are not really much of an option in the Texas heat. I almost can’t stand a closed shoe in June, July and August outside of the office, where I proceed to take them off and air out my tootsies as soon as sit down.
So I got through 4 episodes of Skins series 4 last night and oh my goodness is this a bleak series!~ Nothing good has happened to anyone! It’s still totally engrossing though, last night I powered through Thomas, Emily, and Cook* and then it was 10 PM and I really needed to get to bed, but instead stayed up to watch Katie as well.
If the weather holds for tomorrow I am going to wear a shoe and dress combination I came up with on accident (I hung the dress on my shoe shelves and saw it up against these shoes and WOW, I loved it) and am really excited about.

LOVE your necklace! I think it would also look beautiful as the focal piece of a neutral outfit, either in beige tones, or in black.
What a gorgeous necklace! I'm so glad you were able to fix it and wear it again. How could you stay away from such a beautiful piece?
I am digging this combination!
i love this necklace as a choker, and i love it long! brilliant, taking all of the extra stones from projects past and smooshing them together in one necklace. and brilliant adding the chain to wear it long, so now you can wear it long or take the chain off and wear it as a choker again if you decide to!
thats a trick i think i may need to swipe. :)
Great outfit. Very springy! That necklace is just beautiful and very unique, you should definitely keep it forever.
That bag! I am in love with it.
I love how you make all of these changes to your beautiful jewelry. That necklace looks fabulous! :)
Your necklace is beautiful! You are very talented!
Yes, I am the proud owner of one of those necklaces and it's my absolute favourite piece you've made me! SO fabulous.
Every time you wear that dress, I freak out a little because it looks so good on you. I just love it. Amazing!
Super cute outfit, I love that dress!
Stumbled across your lovely blog via Fashion After Fourty =)
Every time you post jewelry that you've made, I just love it! Don't you have an etsy store or something I could peruse?
This is my favorite outfit ever!!!
I love the necklace (i love accessories and should post more) - i love the way you paired it with the floral dress! I will be stealing this idea ;)
I love the necklace. All the cute jewelry that you make yourself is making me want to take up beading.
I absolutely adore how you altered that necklace, it's gorgeous! And that tiered floral dress may be one of the cutest things I've ever seen you wear! I'm loving it!
That dress is great -- the tiers are so flattering!
love the necklace! what a genius idea!
i might have to try that on some of mine i've made awhile go. :)
It's actually "which" (ha, I knew my Linguistics degree would come in handy!) in this instance. As in "which one" the episode is focused on. Boo ya!
Love the necklace, but I think the colours get a bit lost in the pattern of the dress (which is lovely also).
LOVE that red bag! I've been looking for one like that :) Also, the necklace is beautiful.
Super cute outfit, I love that dress!
