And Kiss Her Gently, And Kiss Her Gently. ..And Kiss Her Hard.

I love this top/tunic. But I am at a loss as to how to style it more than one way.

September 21

The first time I wore it, I styled it basically just like this. With black skinny pants. And that very day a picture was found online of Naomi Watts wearing the same top, styled the same way! I was so proud of myself, I have no idea why! But I thought it was so cool she was wearing it the same way. Until a co-worker said “well, that’s really the only way you CAN wear it”. I was so offended at the thought. That cannot be true I said, you are WRONG, I said. Only…it might be true.

I tried it with a pencil skirt. It didn’t work. I tried belting it. It didn’t work. I tried leggings, but it’s not long enough for that. I tried it over a dress. No go.

If you have successfully styled this top some other way, I would love to see pictures and/or hear ideas. I think I might try tucking it into a black skirt next, but we will see how it goes, it might be too bulky. I thought all those other combos would work, easy peasy, so I am prepared to discover the worst when I try it…that this is a one trick pony kind of piece. Say it ain’t so!

I have the exact same top and I've worn it the same way- over black pants and over maroon pants. LOL. I've never worn it under a skirt, but that is what I was going to try next :)

I love it styled this way, but how about with a skirt like you said (and a wide belt maybe) or how about layering it underneath a dress instead of over?

How about wearing it with a waistcoat? That could look pretty cool?

I was totally going to say to tuck it into a skirt!!

What about denim leggins and a white/cream moto jacket??

I like it this way but, I see what you're saying. Good luck with the tucking :)

Maybe with a fitted vest and straight-legged (bootcut) jeans?

I'm sorry I'm such a quiet observer, but I look at your outfits every day and love getting inspiration from you. You're really good at finding the right details to go together!

Seconding the idea of wearing it with a vest/waistcoat! I think that would look great. I'd also be tempted to try it with a pencil skirt, but since that didn't work, maybe a black mini skirt for your nights on the town?

Good luck! :)

i would also try tucking it in. maybe try a different color pant? white? denim? I third the suggestion of a vest, as well!

why not with skinny blue jeans?

I think that blue jeans would help to bring out the colors in that top, but other than that I am out of ideas. It looks great the way you've styled it.

I have the same top and have styled it the same way was you (only gray skinnies instead of black). You could try a thin vest or cardigan over it.

What about a wide belt and then "blouse" it a bit so the seam hits at the bottom of the belt so it isn't noticeable?

I'm bummed - I bought this top (Target new stock at Goodwill for $2!) but it was a bit too tight in the upper arms for me.

Lookin' good, pretty lady! I off to listen to Cheryl Cole. :-)

white or denim shorts with colored tights (teal, red) and tall boots? granted the white shorts would make it more summery...and shorts in general makes it so you can't wear it to the office. Good luck-I have one of these style tops, but in a different pattern. I've only worn mine with skinny jeans.

Hmmm pencil skirt was going to be my suggestion... I'm baffled too. I'm sure you'll figure it out though, and I'm excited to see!

That low seam/waist thing makes it hard. If you can tuck it in or belt it to cover that up, that might work. Or maybe with a long boyfriend type cardigan over top, then belted?

Ok--I have this top too and have worn it similarly to the way you styled it (but with dark wash denim skinnies). I have also been successful wearing it under a fitted/pencil skirt, BUT only when I have tights on. Then I can tuck match the bottom seam with the waistband, tuck the ruffle into the top of the tights (so it lays flat) and blouson the rest of the tunic over the skirt waistband. A wide belt helps to tamp down any left-over "pouf". Add tall boots and some bangles and it can be totally boho fab.

hm. my inclination would be to stuff it in a skirt, but i don't own it, so it's hard to tell if it would look bunchy or weird!
i hate a difficult garment that you can only wear one way (even if the one way is super cute)!

I think it might work tucked into a skirt, too.

Though really, even if this IS the only way to wear it, it looks crazy good this way, so it might be okay.

lotsa good ideas for you to try! i always get plenty of ideas reading comments like these-you never know when they'll come in handy.

maybe belted (skinnier belt) on the lower side of the waist over a full black skirt? hmmmmm......

I could totally see a button-front vest worn open over this! Especially a menswear waistcoat style, or maybe a longer knit?
