Brand New Clothes And A Big Fat Place On Your Rock And Roll TV

I. Love. This. Outfit.

October 5

I know that the Some People are all worked up and upset over the return of 90s fashions, but not me. I’m totally down with floral, flannel and clogs. I wore this on a Saturday with knee high black socks and clogs, but for work I felt tights more appropriate.

October 5

I got this dress at a thrift store a while back and it was floor length. I was like “Look, Nathan, we can hem it.” He said “I don’t think that is going to be as easy as you think it is.” But you know I had to try. The thing is…I can’t sew.

I mean, at all. I no longer remember how many times I broke a machine in college. It was eventually suggested that maybe I costume shows using rented pieces, or thrifted. Maybe not so much with the sewing when I was costuming…

October 5

But still. I wasn’t GOING to sew, see I was going to use Stitch Witch. And I did. And well, I sort of miscalculated, and now it’s more of a long top, or a tunic than a dress, but I did do it. So not AS easy as I thought, true. But it is shorter, and the hem is straight, and it did hold. So there’s that. So I threw on a lace skirt, a little number I refer to as my “Kyla” skirt, and if you take a look at her blog I think you might be able to figure out why…

October 5

Overall I’m happy with the outcome. I prefer the additional layer of the lace aesthetically anyway. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Flannel, thrifted by Nathan
Dress, thrifted and shortened by me

Love this dress, you look great! I think the lace popping out underneath is perfect!

I love this outfit too! I adore how the studs on the bag and clogs echo the print in the dress, but have the contrasting pattern of the plaid in the same colors to break it up. Lovely. That bit of lace at the bottom is perfect as well.
I'm trying to find some plaid to wear with my new sequin top so I can have the same effect.

I love the mix of plaid and floral (not a 90s thing), and the retro clogs. Those clogs are much more 70s inspired than 90s (90s clogs were meant to be "pretend" boots under pants) - I remember coveting my 12-year-old friend's clogs back in '78.

Good job on the sewing. No one will know if you don't tell them. :)

Love it! It is such a no to the 90s but punched up for today!

can we point out the gorgeous mix of patterns you've done here? and the lace skirt extending the hem is fabulous.

I like the mix of floral and flannel. I'm glad that 90s fashions are back, since I can wear them differently this time around.

I love the resurgence of 90's grunge, too! All plaid shirts and short dresses. The ghost of a relevant Winona Ryder smiles down on you in approval, sugar! And I love the lace at the bottom.

I love this outfit too! I like the way you put together coordinating colors and clashing patterns. The accessories are killer as well. Good job lady!

I love this return to 90s fashion also. I'm very strongly attracted to it, I think it's very me, and I think part of the reason is because my adult life has revolved around wearing work uniforms or whatever I happened to pick up off the floor. High school was the last time I bothered really caring about my appearance and trying to dress a certain way so I find myself gravitating toward stuff I would have liked back then.

and I thought wow, another dress with a lace detail on the bottom, but no! it's another skirt :D how clever! Looks very nice too. The whole outfit is very pretty. :)

I LOVE this. I'm a 90s fashion lover, too. I think I'd change the clogs out for stompy boots, but that's just my personal preference. The flannel and the dress are fantastic together.

Target should pay you commission! I love all the things you find there. I bought the 3/4 sleeve nautical tee (featured a few posts ago) based on your mentioning the cut of it and I love it the most of all my striped cotton shirts. I wear mine with green beads and a very pretty green trouser called Perfect Khaki in Jalapeno from Old Navy and always get compliments.

I did something just like this on Friday! I have been hoping and wishing and praying for the 90's to come back. But not just the clothes. Gimme the music too.
Truth? I've never actually stopped wearing this stuff.

Wow, I absolutely adore this outfit! Even the clogs, although for some reason I could never work them :( Must be the flat feet!

I never would have thought to pair floral with the plaid, but it's so obvious now! I'm totally stealing this look.
