Everybody Everywear, Breton(?) Stripes(!)

ETA: OK! Totally going to add it, but it won't be until tonight, for some reason EBEW is blocked at work. <3

I don't know. I googled, we chatted over Twitter...and I still don't know if this counts as a "Breton Stripe". Seriously. Google was zero help. Google images was even less help. Some said it needed to be navy and white. Others said it could be any color combo, but must be evenly spaced. Some said it must be a shirt to be Breton Stripes and others still said it must be a boatneck shirt. Well. This garment is none of those things. It's a skirt, it's black and white and the stripes are not evenly spaced. It is obviously not boatneck, since it has no neck. But I am with you in spirit. Should I upload this to the Everybody, Everywear page? Or did I miss the mark so much I ought to pass and give the next one a go? What say you, dear readers?

Regardless, it was a marvelous outfit.

1.24.11

Both comfortable and flattering.

1.24.11

I finally bit the proverbial bullet and shelled out the "big bucks" for some quality tights from We Love Colors, and I can absolutely tell the difference. They are warmer, thicker and more opaque than any of my other tights.

1.24.11

And this is another little body con skirt. I can't believe I avoided them for so long. I thought they would be unflattering on me. And I could not have been more wrong. This one actually looks nice enough with good tights under it I could have tucked the shirt in and felt totally fine about the ol' pooch. And my butt? Looks AMAZING. For reals.

1.24.11

I leave you with this outtake, which I have titled "Drunkface McGee", for totally obvious reasons...

1.24.11 (out take: DRUNKFACE McGEE)

Hoodie, American Apparel, customized by me
Tee, Target (men’s section)
Skirt, Forever XXI
Tights, We Love Colors
Boots, Doc Martens
Bag, LUSH

Do they still have those types of skirts at F21? I've been looking high and low for a flattering black skirt, to no avail. This one looks PERFECT.

And yes, that outfit does rock the house!

Friend please get your cute little bum over to EBEW and upload this! We're an equal opportunity stripe supporter.

Oh and hey, I almost forgot to say how awesome you look! Awesome. There I said it again.

I kinda love the DrunkFace McGhee pic the most! HA!

ANd that skirt...amazing! I am totally confident that your tush rocks in it!

I am so embracing stripes too.

And I swear to you I was going to text you last night because of my DIY. You know that pic of Cheryl Cole that we love? The sweatshirt, cargo skinnies and pumps...yeah I've been dying to wear that look but just didn't have the right top.

Then I was looking in the ESSENCE magazine this month and they featured the perfect "flashdance off the shoulder sweatshirt" from AMerican Apparel for $48! FOWTYATE DOLLAZ....HELLS TO THE NO!

SO while off thrifting this weekend, I went to the men's dept and bought a regular XL sweatshirt to DIY. Came home...Cut the neck off and the band around the wrist and waist...and BAM! I'm CHERYL COLE!

Umm hmmm! It's totally hot! I knew you would be proud. Will post pics of my version of the look when the boy takes me somewhere worthy of such a look:)

....oh yeah...your hair...LONG! LOVES IT!

Okay. Bye.

Well, I personally love it, but Linda at EBEW is a stickler for these things. :-)

I;m glad that your rear is being happily hugged by your new adorable skirt! You always look amazing.

Okay now I might really have to hit Forever 21 because that skirt is SO great on you - seriously, you look super hot!

And I'm glad you're going to upload it to EBEW...you know, when you can and all. :)

In my book it works, but oh, MAN, you look amazing! Yowza! I want to copy this outfit and then pray that I look as good as you.

Also, I think I also need to finally bite the We Love Colors bullet. Everyone says they're so amazing...

I think the skirt looks great on you. I love classic blue and white stripes, but it is also fun to see a different take on the look.

OK - I have that exact skirt with gray stripes. AND I too googled Breton stripes thinking to myself, "Hmmm I have a lot of stripes in my closet, but are they the right kind?"

But then I forgot it was Tuesday and didn't wear. . . wait a minute! I'm wearing stripes!! But not Breton.

so cute! yeah i wasn't completely clear on the breton stripes thing either, but I think for the sake of EBEW, its just stripes.

That skirt is so flattering! I need to check out some body con skirts. Some many ladies wear them well, and I just haven't event given them the time of day. maybe it's time!

That skirt looks great! Don't know if its Breton or not, but doesn't matter. I more want to see STRIPES, not a specific kind!!!

Louise is such a trouble maker. I am no stickler! Well, maybe, but not for this! Get yourself over and post it. Let people see you!

That whole outfit is so flattering on you! And I love that you definitely went a different direction on it! You always dress in your own "Erin" way, and I love that!

That skirt rocks the socks off all other skirts ever! You look amazing! And the stripes totally count!

Erin said...

You are so totally tempting me to try on some body con skirts. I have to get my nerve up (and find a brand that CARRIES them in my size - 18/20), but then...we'll see. If I cry in the dressing room, though, it's totally your fault, girlie, for making them look so fun!

Admittedly I am a weirdo but before I read about what you said about your booty, I was thinking 'I wonder how her butt looks in that'.
Hot!

Brittney said...

absolutely counts, and i'd go so far as to say you win the whole pie. if it was a contest, of course. and if pie was the prize. but either way--this outfit is my very most favoritest of yours. you look hot. and i believe you about your butt, but i'm a little sad you didn't provide photog evidence. :) next time. (ewww...i sound so creepy saying that, don't i. dah well.)
