So Shimmy Once And Do It Again

Last night I had dinner with Elissa from Dress With Courage. We decided that it would be a good idea to meet, since we have already booked a room together and decided to drive to Austin together for the Texas Style Counsel Conference (see sidebar! Are you signed up yet? It’s going to be a wonderful experience for the community!). I’m super excited about the event and after having (a very long) dinner with Elissa I am stoked about spending more time with her as well. I felt right at home with her and I hope she felt the same.

I’m starting to look at things in terms of “should I wear this now or will I need it for the 30X30?” I plan to drag out the extra clothes rack tonight (I think separating out the pieces is going to be key for me) and get to work with my selection, so after that the rest of the week ought to be pretty easy. Anything NOT on the 30X30 rack!

I’m really nervous about the 30X30. I know I can’t be the only one to feel this way, but I can’t envision how my personal wardrobe is going to work. It’s all dresses and no pants. I plan to sub skirts for pants. I can’t wait to get to work on it tonight. I know that once I’ve got my selections sorted I’ll be much more comfortable. I plan to try and squeeze out 30 outfits before I even start and document them. I don’t HAVE to wear those 30 combination,. But knowing I’ve already sorted them out will make the actual challenge that much more fun for me.

So hey! I haven’t even mentioned the outfit yet! It was just a casual outfit. Worn to do a little shopping in the afternoon and then dinner out with Elissa. I got a couple of those body con skirts from Forever XXI recently and WHY did no one tell me how COMFORTABLE they are? I mean, I never considered them before, because I have such a pronounced tummy, but with an oversized top, no one can even tell. It’s like wearing pajamas for crying out loud.

Hoodie, American Apparel, altered by me
Tee, Hot Topic (lololololol)
Skirt, Forever XXI
Tights, Target
Boots, Doc Martens
Bag, LUSH

I've decided to participate in the 30 for 30 madness this time around, and I'm nervous too! But I think it will be fun, and a great exercise in creativity.

I love this casual look. That skirt looks fabulous!

Oh, and I finally found out/decided for sure that I won't be able to make it to Austin. It was a possibility for awhile, since my sister lives there, but she'll be out of town that weekend, and I just can't justify a trip to Austin without getting to see her. :-(

The 30x30 is really fun, but it's also kind of annoying. I always plan out at least 30 different combos before we start (this will be my 3rd time!!), just to make things easier, but they don't all end up being worn.

It's also really important to make sure you can wear all the pieces with other pieces. I really wanted to include a dress this time around, but it didn't go with anything but one pair of pants. Not so good with the remixing, haha. :)

Love the outfit!!

I'm really glad you are participating in the challenge. I can be a little tough some days {but that's life}, but it is so fun to see other people's choices and styling. I'm sure you'll do great!

I like your casual looks as much as your work day outfits! That skirt is really cute too. I might have to check F21 soon myself.

I am glad you are doing 30x30 because there is NO WAY I could do it. I mean, i pretty much stick to a small wardrobe, but I don't have the wardrobe yet to be that capsule-like. I look to you and the other 30x30-ers for inspiration!

And that skirt is the bomb, and I don't need to tell you how much I love your tee!!!

I'm surprisingly jealous of people who are nervous for the 30 for 30. I've decided against doing this challenge (there are so many to choose from these days!!), but I loved it last time! You'll do fabulously!! (Also: check you my post from Sunday... I mention you!!)

I love how you paired a t-shirt with that print skirt - that is awesome!!

And I really think planning is the key to the 30x30 - which reminds me, I need to get some wardrobe planning done quick :) Feb 1st is coming WAY too soon for my tastes!

Okay, I probably shouldn't mention this before 30X30, but... Target has some super-cute, Erin-like dresses for spring. I saw at least 4 that would work in your wardrobe! So cute.
But, um. Buy them in a month? When they're on sale? Sorry! *hangs head*

You look SUPER hot in that skirt! Seriously.

I wish I could go to the conference but I have plans that Saturday here in town, it's a big ole' to-do that I can't get out of (and don't really want to, to be honest). I'm so sad to have to miss it!!!

I'm also terrified about the 30 for 30. I'm gonna do it, by golly, but I'm petrified...

This skirt is great! And so you with the band tshirt! Isn't great to meet someone who you just click immediately with?

I've been doing the same thing with this weeks clothes, trying to wear things that won't be part of the 30 x 30. I think I'll be wearing a lot of my hard-to-remix dresses this week.

That skirt looks fabulous, and yes, stretchy skirts are the best thing ever to wear. As far as doing the 30x30- you're welcome to look through my archives to see what it's like to do a 30x30 without any pants- I'm a little more extreme than you when it comes to skirt and dress wearing, but I can tell that it is totally possible. I'll try to put up a composite of all the outfits sometime in the next couple days and let you know if you're interested! You're going to be fine- it's a little weird to conceptualize, but I'm sure you'll be able to come up with lots of outfit ideas, and if you don't? Not the end of the world. You'll still be adorable and post great outfits up on this here blog.

Awwww...so much love! I had a super awesome fantastic time out with you last night. And (I know I didn't say it, because I didn't want to seem like complete dork) but you looked amazing. I basically wanted to rip everything right off your body. But that would have been weird.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that's nervous. I must applaud all that did it this last time because every outfit I saw was innovative and fresh. We can be nervous together!
