Your Father Cracks a Joke And In The Usual Way, Empties The Room

I have wanted to wear this outfit for at least a month.

1.17.11

Two things conspired against me. 1. The weather. It’s been very cold and I’ve been reluctant to wear dresses. And 2. That jacket was stuffed into a box last Spring and when I took it out it was unreasonably wrinkled. I could not even conceive of trying to iron it. The thought made me feel defeated before I’d begun.

1.17.11

Well, the weather finally warmed up, and I finally bit the bullet and bought something I’d been wanting for a couple of years…

mini steamer

Joy Mangano's My Little Steamer® Go Mini Hand Steamer. Guys. I cannot rave enough about this. I hate to iron. HATE IT. So sometimes I just never wear things. Because the thought of ironing them just turns me right off. But this is so easy to use. I got the tiny version, because I want to take it with me to the Texas Style Council* in March. I can use it to freshen up my daily outfits, but it is also going to be wonderful for making the clothes I bring for Fridays’ swap look much nicer so that someone else can take them home and love them. Wrinkly sad looking clothes are never good news at a swap!

1.17.11

I steamed this particular jacket twice, because it’s such thick fleece and it was so wrinkly, but even that was super easy. Just run the steamer up and down the garment while pulling at the bottom. That’s it. Easy Peasy. Seriously. Consider ordering one of these if you hate ironing as much as I do. I steamed a wrinkled Sonic Youth tee in like 90 seconds. BOOM. I would never have ironed that. I'd have rewashed it.

1.17.11

The affair with The Little Wooden Staircase continues, LWS continues to not give me what I need.

*Have you signed up yet? It’s only $45, and it is going to be AMAZING. I’m planning for one of the most fun and friendly weekends of my life! You should too.

Boots, Sperry (Give away from Between Laundry Days)

Isn't the steamer the best thing ever?! I got one for Christmas 2009 and it continually stays on my bathroom counter. I love that I can just turn it on, wait a minute and then easily steam away the wrinkles. Plus, I take it with me everywhere I go! I had an evil hotel iron ruin a pair of my pants - no more!!

You rock those boots like no other!

I like everything about this outfit. The dress, boots, beautiful white jacket. Also, congrats on the steamer. We bought one when we traveled for our wedding and we were like "crap, we can't be a wrinkly couple." It saves us at least twice a week from unseemly shirts and pant situations. Also, rocks for wool.

Love the jacket, LOVE the steamer.

I love that outfit! I don't mind ironing and am pretty quick at it, but my husband HATES to iron. He'll take four times as long to steam (we have an old steamer we inherited from friends who moved) before he'll break out the ironing board. Maybe I should look into a better steamer!

Those boots are so cool! And the hand steamer! I'm jealous.

Hey! See You in March!

Oh goodness, this is just PERFECT! The dress and jacket are so great together and the addition of the boots just makes it so "you"... I have a tiny steamer too and I love it - I always seem to burn myself when using the iron and then iron wrinkles IN to the item somehow? So I pretty much only use my steamer now!

I just love this outfit. And you look so beautiful in the last pic.

Thanks for the tip about the steamer, I think I'll go for one!

That coat is lovely. I really should buy a steamer, since I am terrible about ironing.

I have been wanting a steamer myself and I think you've convinced me!

Can't wait to meet you at the Texas Style Conference!!

Ok, I'm sold. I need a steamer. I HATE ironing. And I'm not very good at it. Outfit? Love it!! The dress, the boots, the freshly steamed jacket... perfect!

I looove that coat with the dress and the boots. So, ahem, I guess I like your whole outfit. I should have just said that at first and saved us both some time. :)

And I may need a steamer. I hate to iron too.

I love that jacket even more on you than I did when it was on the hanger! I'll have to keep an eye out for something similar! The outfit is so fabulous!

I love the boots! and I remember that jacket from ON years ago, I wanted it, but could never find it in the size I needed.

I hate ironing too! We had the same steamer, but it mama verision and we loved it. Sadly it died, but I just recently bought a new one that is equally just as good.

OM god. Those boots are to die. I want.

I never considered the idea of a steamer. I too hate to iron...somehow I always end up putting more wrinkles into the clothes I'm ironing than taking them out. It's a little self-defeating. But that steamer looks so easy to use. I'm sold.

Ahhh! I love this outfit! The jacket looks great on you! And perfect with this dress/boot combination. And those boots? Yes, please. OK, I'm done screaming now. :)

You have me so sold on this mini steamer. I, too, belong to the "I don't wear things I know I will have to iron" club. This has been added to my to buy list!

First, you look absolutely incredible in this outfit and I ADORE that coat.

Second, you might be my new best friend for blogging about the steamer. I don't iron. I don't think I ever have, to be honest with you. Normally I'll throw something back in the dryer with a damp washcloth to steam the wrinkles out. Now I want one of these!!!

Sooooo good. Like, so good. I love the proportions, the girliness, the coat.

Oh, and can I tell a secret? I love to iron. It calms me. So here's the deal. I'll iron your clothes, you'll clean my room. Yes?

I love this! it's so fresh and feminine, and the boots make it oh-so-ruggedly cool.

Fantastic jacket! The lace-up boots are pretty amazing as well. Thanks for the steamer review. The one I have is cumbersome with a big water tank and hose and what not. But, it was a hand-me-down so I shouldn't complain. If it breaks (or I accidentally break it), I'm getting the one you featured!

That steamer looks amazing! I hate rolling mine around and I absolutely do not iron.

Just found your blog and loving your outfits! Very cool!
