MIA

I’m so sorry I’ve been silent. I got really sick, but didn’t have time for a sick day, and as a result it was work, sleep, work, sleep, work, sleep there for a while.

I do have a couple outfit posts for you but for now I’m just going to do a quick updates about some random stuff I’m loving right now.

Cover Girl Outlast Lipstains.

lipstain-line-up

Love these. I put one on (I’m partial to the reds, numbers 435, and 440) at 8 AM and I’m good to go until after lunch. They last for hours and you can put all the lip balm you want on over them and they don’t budge. You can use one swipe for subtle color, or build up a couple of layers for more payout. And unlike other stains I’ve tried, these don’t dry out too quickly.

Blair Pull Ons by Xhileration at Target
You’ve seen me wear the black

Which I have two pair of and wear to work at least once a week (sometimes twice!) with a blousy top, and out a couple times a week as well, with a Band tee and a leather jacket.

But I also have them in a regular dark demin wash (The fade out is not near as noticeable in real life)

I know elastic waistbands are for toddlers, old ladies and pregnant ladies, but I just love them. And no one can tell it’s an elastic waistband until I tell them, which I do. Often. Ha!~ And there is not a tighter jean out there. And I love a tight jean. But I also love a sandwich.

One of my Best Girls, Erin over at Haute Hardware, is getting married this fall in beautiful Puerto Rico. I am so happy for her and so excited. She asked me to be a bridesmaid and I am so honored. Plus she’s being such a wonderful Bride and all she asked is that we wear a black dress. She sent me a link to a JCrew sale Tuesday and I ordered this lovely number. (I ordered a black, but the yellow gives better details). I hope it fits, because I love it.

On another Erin related note, I bought this purse from Erin last year during one of her big closet cleans, and for some reason I just never carried it. I found it the other day and am in love again. It’s by the now defunct (as far as I can tell anyway) brand SMAK, and it feels so “now” with all the hardware and chains.

Lara over at Fashionate recommended I read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Because I love a good Dystopian Future tale.

From Good Reads (let me know if you are on Good Reads and want to be friends!)
“ Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.”

It is a haunting, horrible and wonderful book. A cross between “The Lottery” and “Battle Royale”. Really great characters, and lots of action. I could not put it down.

I’ll get you pics of that messy bun soon, as well as some new outfits. Thanks for sticking with me!

Nice to have you back!
I love lipstains as well for all the reasons that you mentioned. They never move and can be layered with gloss or balm and always look pretty.
You have the best taste in clothes and stuff. Very envious. <3

I'm so glad you posted even though you're busier than sin!

A Puerto Rico wedding sounds awesome--woo!

Chris' sister was reading that book when we were in VT and I've heard it's amazing! I am always last to jump on the book train. Ha ha.

That book sounds almost exactly like The Running Man by Stephen King. If you like it, check SK's out too. He wrote it as Richard Bachman and it's NOTHING like the movie, which was just silly. =)

Erin, you totally don't know me, but I read your blog all the time.
Anyhoo, Love the black dress. I did the same thing w/ my Bridesmaids 5 years ago & it was so awesome...I just said, "Wear a black cocktail dress...if you've got one in your closet that you love, great! If you wanna buy one, that's great too! We also just had the boys wear black suits...that way if they had to buy one it was at least a staple they needed in their closet."

I'm on goodreads and I've read The Hunger Games. Excellent book! I gave it five stars. There's a sequel, Catching Fires, projected to come out this September. If you'd like to be friends on goodreads, feel free to add me here.
