The Music Is Far Too Loud, And I’m Afraid Of It

Last time I wore this tunic I think I mentioned that I would try belting it next, so I did!

I get so many compliments whenever I wear this. It is just so…chic. And easy. I cannot say enough nice things about it.

I am realllllllly starting to itch to add my black leather biker jacket to outfits, but it is just too hot. So instead I added a bit of edge with a latex/leather look legging.

So I bet you are all wondering how my ear piercings are doing. No? Well that’s too bad because I am going to tell you anyway! Yesterday they were “healed” as far as the calendar goes. But that is outright lies. Last weekend I actually broke down and changed the earrings a week early. I did that because they were just not healing well. They stayed swollen and puffy and sad. Not oozing or anything, just unhappy. I knew this was probably because I was wearing post back earrings. In the past, I have never had any luck with post back earrings. I need a hoop or a hook, something that is open on both sides, or my ears get irritated. So I went and got some teeny gold and silver hoops at Wal-Mart.

I washed my hands like a Dr, with the run-off going down, and for a long time. Then I cleaned the earrings with rubbing alcohol. I also coated the posts in antibacterial ointment. Then I set about taking off the starter earrings. Good night it was hard! I had to pull so hard on the posts I was scared I was going to hurt myself! And when they came off…ugh! The scabbing and grossness that was in there! So super gross. Once they finally came off, I cleaned my ears with the stuff from the piercing store, and also added antibacterial ointment to them. Then I put the hoops in. It hurt. My ears are nowhere near healed so they did that thing where they didn’t go straight through right away but sort of swum around in there until I found the hole on the backside. It was much worse than the actual piercing. But I got it done.

The good news is I was right about the post backs hindering my healing and my ears have made a LOT of progress in the past week. The swelling has gone down altogether, and no more scabbing and gross bits happening. Plus they FEEL good. I will leave these in another couple of months, but I am glad I was able to get them on the road to recovery…

That tunic is awesome- I love the belted look!

And I'm the same about my ears. I have 3 holes in each ear, and I switched them all way sooner than I was supposed to, but it helped!

I've also have my tongue pierced (took it out about a year ago) and changed that one as soon as the swelling went down, mostly because the original bar was HUGE!!

I hope your ears feel better soon!

I really like that tunic belted. I'm glad your ears are doing better. It has been a long time since I've gotten a piercing, but I still remember how painful the healing process was.

Super cute outfit and I love that you can pull off leggings!

Also glad to hear that your ears are healing better. Always use good handwashing technique whenever cleaning them to keep away infection.

Great look on you!

i cracked up reading your graphic descriptions of your ear healing troubles...mom, sis and i all got our ears pierced at the same time (i was 14?) my dad was SO SQUEAMISH about it - to this day all i have to say is 'i can't find the back of the hole' for him to turn green and suddenly have to leave the room.

i'm seriously considering sending him an anonymous link to this post just to harass him....(yes, we have that type of relationship).

i'm very happy your ears are healing nicely now! yay! more holes! i'm looking forward to seeing the combos you come up with. steph

I have to do that with piercings too! The post-back earrings are terrible.

Glad your ears are doing better, and you look fab!

You look awesome - you are sure getting your money's worth out of those shoes! Love them.

Good to hear about your ears - whenever my piercings start to act up, I go straight back to the gold hoops until they are better.

Dude. You rock leggings like the leggings fairy. It's excellent!
And your story about your ears made me cringe all the way through until my shoulders were covering up my ears in sympathy. I changed my nose ring and had to fish around inside my skin for the other side and, sweet mercy, that was disgusting, painful and horrifying. So much so that I haven't ever done it again.

For future piercings woes, you may want to consider using a sea salt&distilled water combination, and you can heat it up to help your piercing. That's what all the pros tell me to use, because alcohol based products can dry out your piercing and may result in further infection.

That being said, I love love love your shoes! I would wear them to bed I love them so much.
