Well, If You Want To Know Me, I’m A War

I never mean to be gone so long! Some weeks, life just gets in the way of blogging.

September 9

I normally style this blouse with more of a sort of nature loving hippie bent. More browns and denim. But I wanted to see how it would react to being dressed up city style, with black. I think it turned out really nice and I’m not sure why I was so blind to the possibility before.

I am happy to see that Target’s Mossimo line has come out with these leggings. I know Target has been carrying denim leggings for a while now, but as far as I could tell, they were all “super low rise” or “Lowest rise”. Well I like my pants to sit above both my plumber’s crack and my bikini line. Call me old fashioned, but I don’t like to let it all hang out.

I realized a couple days ago that I was back up to alarmingly bad, pre kidney stone drinking habits. Diet Red Bull followed by Coffee, followed by Diet Soda. So today I am following y Diet Red Bull with black tea. And then water. We’ll see how that goes. Not 3 months ago I was ace at drinking water all day, so I know I can do it, but I also know tapering my caffeine back down = no fun. Any other caffeine fans out there? What’s your limit? Please tell me someone misbehaves as much or even more than I do.

Coffee and diet soda junkie! *raises hand* Guilty as charged! Years ago I even hated drinking water!

But I do drink it all day now, but I can't kick the diet soda habit, nor the coffee. I've cut down, which is no fun, but I can't cut it out. There's no way. I need to live!

So, I feel you all the way!

I didn't know Target had jeggings! Maybe I'll check those out today...I can't wait for boots and scarves!

I started drinking coffee when I started my job with the government 5 years ago - it took maybe 3-4 weeks to realize something wasn't right: a couple cups of coffee a day, and my heard would be racing 120 beats per minute - while sitting. Turns out I am genetically predisposed to a heart condition, and coffee is a trigger for attacks. I didn't think it would be that hard to kick the habit since I just started, but it was horrible! I've just recently cut the cola habit, and am loving the feeling of drinking my 8 glasses of water a day! Good luck!

That blouse looks great styled that way. I like florals paired with edgier pieces.

I've cut down on caffeine a lot in the past couple of years. Unless I''m having a tough day at work, I usually have two cups of coffee and then switch to water.

i suffered from my first kidney stone just a year ago. youd think all that pain would be enough to get me to better my drinking habits, but its tough! for me, its not that i drink the wrong things, just that i dont drink enough. the doctor even said i could guzzle beer all day if thats what it took..heh

oh, and thanks to your recommendation, i am now the proud owner of 2 pairs of ANA jeggings. and they are fabulous!

I love the balance of the florals in the top with the edgier shoes, and I so love those shoes.

I drink a ridiculous amount of caffeinated diet soda. I actually quit cold turkey for 6 years, but still craved it every time I ate out, or had pizza, or filled up my car, or saw the Diet Coke logo...

I finally realized it makes me happy and there were a lot worse addictions out there.

I still won't admit exactly how much I actually drink though...

I'm with Rebecca, day drinks are coffee and water - we make strong coffee at home and I have 2 half-cups each morning, then it's water the rest of the day (I add some chai in the winter, decaf chai if after 4pm).

I feel lucky...I never really liked soda, boxed cereals, or things like PB&J on white, even growing up as a kid. Those "foods" are all made with HFCS now and although real sugar is BETTER for you than that, I just don't have as much of a sweet tooth as most people and do not drink soda, ever. And diet soda...not good for ya. (Isn't there something about carbonation being bad for the bones too?) But since it seems to be really hard for most to give up, I wouldn't know what to say about that. Red Bull...not even goin' there. :)

OMG I adore caffeine. I wouldn't say I drink excessive amounts, but I HAVE to have it at least once a day. If I try and go a day without having a cup, it's not pretty let me tell you!! You are brave for weaning off... good luck!

I, too, am loving this blouse's city side. And that bag is serious awesome business.

Also, no. I will not share my caffeine abuse habits and thus enable yours :)

You look adorable! I love your top! And to make you feel really guilty (sorry!), but I never drink caffeine and haven't for probably ten years. I really don't miss it though at all...

Oh, I do love caffeine. Mostly coffee. I usually have a couple of cups in the morning and maybe another one in the afternoon after lunch. The rest of the day I try to chug water.

I really love that blouse with the black leggings. You look fantastic!

To make you feel even more guilty I could say that I only drink green tea to "fix" myself in the morning. I can even work night shifts with only drinking green tea, not coffee or red bull. I only drink Red Bull when I have to stay up for more than 24 hours. :D
By the way you look very pretty. :)

I am a diet cola addict!
This week I did not buy any diet cola though.
And I have had headaches and felt tired all week...
But I want to cut it out, so I'm sticking to it! And, today I actually feel pretty good :)

Love the blouse! You always look amazing.

Caffeine habits--mine suck too, as you know. I tend to drink 5-6 cups (about half a pot) at home before work, then I try to stay away until my afternoon Diet Coke, but lately, I've been having another cup at work and an extra DC in the afternoon/evenings. Cutting back does suck, but I'll have to do it some time.

Dr.Pepper is my caffeine pick-me-up of choice. Although when I worked the graveyard shift at a hotel casino, I would down 2 Java Monsters a day. Luckily I was able to kick that habit once I quit working there.

You are the MASTER of city chic!

I'm a coffee fiend, but I actually limit myself to one cup a day. I know I could get totally hooked and out of hand if I let myself, so I'm pretty strict about it.

I'm always looking for a medium rise!

I drink SO MUCH caffeine every day, it's CRAZY. When I'm trying to cut it out, I drink mostly water then went I start to get a caffeine headache, I'll have a glass of tea. Seems to help. Love this outfit. I need to skinny black pants for work!!

Everytime I see those shoes, I'm pretty much like, "I WANT THOSE SOOO BAD"! :P

As for your other topic...I was a total caffeine and soda junkie. I pretty much lived off of soda and sweet tea for the first three years of college, and I'm pretty sure that's what made me gain as much weight as a I did. I'm in the process of losing it right now, so I drink only water and herbal teas. It's tough, but I cut things out slowwwwwly. Every once in awhile, I'll have half a cup of diet soda or something. Good luck!

caffeine? i go through a 100 tea bag box of liptons' a month.....classy, huh. caffeine ain't great, but the main thing is drinking enough water to balance it. so you could try upping the water before reducing the big C? of course, it all depends on how much you enjoy recreational urination....

my husband got his first kidney stone after hiking 15 miles (took no water) in the hundred degree heat, coming home and eating half a pepperoni pizza and drinking one diet coke......the next morning, at 3AM it was 'trip to the emergency room and the morphine drip' time. man, i'm lucky and have never had one but the stories! take care of yourself. it's a rotten thing. i hope you feel better soon!!
