Last Night There Were Skinheads On My Lawn

(Clearly, “Take The Skinheads Bowling” was playing when I started, but now “Just Like Heaven” is playing. This song makes me smile every time I hear it. It is pure joy and happiness to me no matter what.)

I’m still old!~ The Youth still plagiarize English papers! And it’s still freezing cold! I had to borrow my husband’s ear muffs once we got in the car because my ears were burning they were so cold. It’s a weird December up in here.

December 10

Tonight I have training for ART CON(Art Conspiracy Dallas). The event is held in a warehouse that is transformed to suit the needs of the origination for that one night. Artists make art, on the spot in the 24 hours before the event, and then we auction it off. It is going to be FREEZING in there and I have no idea what I am going to wear. The artsy types always look amazing, so I can’t just phone it in with Uggs and a hoodie, like I have been when I’ve gone in this week. And, my job is checking out the art, which is what I did last time, but last time we just took cash and/or had you fill out a form with your credit card info. This time we are stepping it up and actually running the credit cards. I’m kind of nervous. I have not operated a cash register of any kind since I was 15 and working at the GAP. If you are in the Dallas area, and you want to support a good cause (All the profits are going to Resolana, an organization that provides rehabilitative arts programming for women in the Dallas County Jail and Dawson State Jail in Dallas.) please come out. There will be bands, and performance art, and I’d love for you to come by and say hi.

All of that has nothing to do with what I am wearing.

This jacket is warm enough to hold its own in below freezing weather, but only because I am driven to work in a car and then home. If I had to walk at all or take public transport there is no way this would be OK. In fact, nothing I wear would be OK.

The thing I love most about the AA circle scarves is that I can wear necklaces with them and they don’t snag! I have on my diamond necklace, my talon necklace and my tiny bronze bird skull under there. I have always hated how you have to give up necklaces all winter for scarves. These are a great solution.

There are lots of things I like about having a jewelry kit. One is that when I get bored with something, I can simply deconstruct it and remake it. Another is that I can make repairs. I can also shorten or lengthen necklaces on a whim depending on my mood and outfit, and then put them right back the way they were the next day. But the best part is being able to open my tackle box, look in and make something new, like these earrings. They are made from clasps I got at the craft store, put on lever back earrings. I got a new pair of earrings, but I didn’t have to buy anything. That’s nice.

Jacket, Converse One Star at Target
Dress, Temperly for Target
Leggings, Target
Boots, Steve Madden
Scarf, ½ American Apparel circle scarf
Earrings, self made
Bag, Rachel Nasvik

Lady, I am droooooling over that bag. And I'm not a bag-drooler.

Wish I could make it to Art Con, sounds like an amazing event.

I still haven't figured out the circle scarf. But I am determined to do so this weekend! Hope the Art Con goes well and you manage not to freeze to death! Wish I could make it out. :(

Okay, can I just say THANK YOU for your blog? The way you write is so entertaining. And I love your style - the prints, the skinnies, the necklaces. Too bad I'm not anywhere near Texas or I would love to shop at the Art Con.

I'm with CindyinSC... I always love your writing style because it's like I'm in on a conversation that you're having. It's not like you're just talking, it's like I'm there with you. <3

I wish I could come to the Art Con! I hope you have a good time (and I'm sure you'll be fine at the register--it'll all come back to you!).

Our gvt. sales vp just came in from Dallas, and he said it feels colder there right now than it does here. I feel for you guys!

Just Like Heaven is one of my favorite songs of all time. I am not typically a fan of covers, but you have to hear this...
