(I almost never want to tell the DJ to turn it up. Just so you know. Clubs are almost always too loud for me.)
It was my husbands DJ night at Inwood Lounge so I got dressed up. It was one of those nights. I tried on every single thing I owned and hated all of it. And then I took one last cruise through the racks in my dressing room and...BOOM! Hidden behind a floral print silk romper was this plain black silk one. I had completely forgotten about it. It happens. I slipped it on, added a kimono and felt perfect.
A braided bun is an easy solution for a quick and classy up-do, you know, for when you wasted all your alloted gettin' ready time hating your wardrobe.

Happy, Happy
One of my favorite things bloggers have been doing recently are Instagram collages. The wonderful thing about Instagram is that Instagram pictures are almost always capturing happy moments. Little snapshots of the bests parts of our lives. I hope you like them too!

1. I LOVE breakfast. This is a pretty typical breakfast for me... cinnamon raisin toast, honey nut cream cheese, blueberries and strawberries with a honey drizzle and a sprinkle of cinnamon and a boiled egg.
2. I am super into bright pink lips right now, and this new Revlon JustBitten Kissable Balm Stain is one of my favorites. Goes on smooth, doesn't dry my lips out and has a fresh soft mint scent.
3. Love it when you make plans to meet friends out and end up having chance encounters with even more friends.
4. Puppy kisses.
5. and 6. Summer is for pretty cocktails.
7. and 8. Warren's epic and classy Memorial Day Party. Thank you, Warren. Maybe next year we will actually meet.
9. and 10. There was bingo, based on chicken's pooping. It was weird. And kind of fun.
11. Nathan has a monthly DJ gig with a partner called Vinyl Fantasy, where they play soul, psych and all kinds of fun stuff. Sometimes there is dancing. Those are the best times.
12.When in doubt, wear Free People and all your favorite jewelry.

Try To Have Fun In The Meantime
I was obviously going somewhere in this. I know because Nathan was with me (he takes my pictures) and we bothered to take pictures. But I have no idea where. Goodfriend for a Goodfriend perhaps? No matter. It's fun and casual and a little over the top, just the way I like it.

If You Built Yourself A Myth
It feels good to be making jewelry again. I don't know how it is for other artists, but for me, it can take a while for the inspiration to hit. Sometimes if I seek it out, I can find it. Other times, I have to wait patiently for it to come to me. I get nervous. I get bored. I get frustrated. There are false starts. But it always works out in the end. And then I have something to offer the world that wasn't there before. Wearable art. Adornment. It's my passion. I love it. I love to adorn and be adorned.
I bought this silk dress at the Austin Buffalo Exchange, Stevie had pulled it for me and as soon as I tried it on I knew I loved it. I wore it the same night but I didn't think things through, the silk is light as air and it was breezy. Lesson learned. Pettipants are a necessity with this dress.
I hadn't worn it since that first go, I wasn't sure how to style it really. But when I made this necklace on Monday they suddenly seemed like a perfect match. The necklace is heavy and the silk is so light. I liked how they played off each other.
Stevie put together a similar one, and we are both really in love with the concept. Mine is onyx, pearls and silver. Stevie's has some rose quartz and a gorgeous rose quart point on the end. I can't wait to see what we come up with next!

All Yesterday's Parties
Last Thursday was an exciting day. I dropped off my first collection at Elements, my wonderful friend Cody's band, Mockingbyrd Station played a show at the train station they are named for, and local favorite and all around amazing guy Kevin played a show with his band The Blurries, before an amazing set by cool guys Nervous Curtians at The Common Table in Uptown.
I wore this
AH-MAZE-ING herkimer studs by Erica Weiner via Elements...
(My nail polish is "go overboard" by Essie
It was so dark at Common Table (just the way I like it) the shots I took of The Blurries and Nervous Curtains came out pretty poor
The Blurries
Nervous Curtains
but I got a great shot or two of Mockingbyrd Station...
Blouse, Thrifted
Shorts, thrifted Levis I cut off
Boots, Buffalo Exchange Austin
Turquoise skull necklace, Love, Erin (available at Elements)
Isabella Wolf Fang Necklace, Wendy Brandes
Turquoise ring, thrifted
Trinity ring, Buffalo Exchange Dallas
Claw Bracelet, Moon Raven Designs
Cicada Ring, Elizabeth and James via Nemian Marcus
Sunglasses, Ray Bans

Love, Erin
For the past couple of weeks I have been working on some jewelry for a local Dallas boutique, Elements. Elements is a gorgeous boutique filled with silk, silver and stingray. Luxe from wall to wall, they also have some of the most attentive and knowledgeable shopgirls in town.I'm extremely excited to have the opportunity to produce some pieces for them and I hope you get a chance to go check it out.
I set up a little work station by the window...
But of course a girl likes to be on the move so I've got a bit of a portable station as well!
For the first set of pieces I am using some beads that Connie, the lovely owner of Elements, has been stockpiling for a while, as well as some things I've got leftover from my Etsy days. I love that it is in keeping with my blog theme, I'm working with what I've got. I laid out the materials and just let them sort of be in my line of vision for a couple of days and then, as they tend to do, they started becoming pieces in my head, so I did my best to bring them to life. I'm very happy with the results!
Here are some sneak peek shots I took...

Traveled Down The Road and Back Again
This was my favorite outfit of our mini-break to Austin.
I was not the only one who loved it. It was surprisingly and intensely popular with older ladies. I had them stop me on the street, and chat my up in the ladies room. They called me brave, and fun, and "so cute" and applauded my willingness to step outside of the box and have a little fun with my outfit. And they made me feel like a super star.
I had planned to wear my leather fringe vest, but this denim shirt Nathan suggested ended up being perfect. It tones down both the sweetness of the lace and the sexiness of the length and sheerness of the tunic. I don't think you can see them really but I am wearing the most amazing distressed cutoffs made from vintage Levi's.
(That's our beautiful friend Vicki who came up for Saturday)
My headband was made by my friend Casey, she uses realllllllly flexible headbands and I normally can't wear a headband at all without getting horrible pain behind my ears and I can wear the ones Casey uses all day. Let me know if you'd like one and I'll hook you up with Casey!
On me:
Tunic, Free People
Bra, Target
Shorts, vintage Levi's
Boots, Gianni Bini via Buffalo Exchange Austin
Denim shirt, Vintage Wrangler
Flower headband, made by Casey
On Stevie (best guesses!):
Tee, Vintage
Shorts, Dog and Pony
Boots, Jeffery Campbell
On Vicki:
I can't speak to the tank or skirt, but the bag is vintage Coach and the shoes are Chucks
