I Wanna Be Desperate, I Wanna Be Desolate…I Wanna Be Depressed, Over You

Confession: I have wanted to wear this dress for a couple months, but have been too lazy to iron it. I finally got around to doing it last night. That is how much I don’t iron. Normally if something can’t be smoothed out with Downy Wrinkle Release, it’s dead to me. But I do have a few things I keep around, and this is one of them.

My great grandmother (my grandfather’s mother on my dad’s side) made the cardigan for my Grandmama when she was a young bride. It is crocheted and not knitted and was entered into the Texas State Fair competition. I don’t remember the story exactly, but I believe it was awarded a ribbon and then disqualified for being crochet. Whatever, State Fair Judges, it’s still awesome.

I’m having dinner tonight with friends I have not seen in a long time and we are going straight from the office to dinner so I’ll be in this for a while, which is why I went with cozy. I’m looking forward to it, they are awesome people. We are going to meet at this bar in town that makes something called “Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner” and it’s a tenderized and flattened chicken breast, breaded and pan friend and then served with this amazing gravy and...wait for it...Gouda mashed potatoes. SO GOOD. And they make their own potato chips with three dipping sauces. We are going to split the chicken dinner and have the chips too. Two times the potatoes! Yes! And yes, I totally pre-plan my meals out. Please tell me someone else does this. I look up the menu online up to a week before, even if I’ve been there before. I hate when restaurants have no menu online. Once a while back, we went to a new place on a double date, and I had pre-planned to order the mushroom risotto, and they were out of it and it really threw me for a loop. I recovered and ordered some very fine things instead but I will always hold it against them.

I wish I worked this pendant into my wardrobe more often. I got it at a multi-family yard sale this summer….for a quarter! It’s sterling and really heavy and gorgeous. And it was a quarter! It was the same yard sale that I got the black motorcycle jacket of awesomeness for Nathan for 20 bucks. That was a good yard sale.

I can't decide if I like the sweater or the dress better! Both are super cute!!

Gouda mashed potatoes sounds AMAZING! I love gouda and potatoes, and now I feel silly for never having thought of the combination :o)

This outfit is really cute!! Plus you just look so comfy, I'm jealous. :) I think it's one of my favorites you've worn lately.

I love the dress and the cardi!!!

I totally review the menu online for new restaurants that I am going to so I have an idea of what I want before I go there.

I think the restaurant you are going to was featured on Diner, Drive-In's and Dives cause the meal you described sounds so familiar

I pre-plan too. I like to have a few options in mind know what I am going to spend on places that are either new or I don't go too frequently. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

LOVE the sweater with a back-story.

Great sweater. I am so jealous of people who have things like this...

Also? I hate to iron.

Nom nom nom.

I am very similar with ironing. However, I have a steamer, and that thing is awesome! It doesn't work on everything perfectly, like it does button down shirts pretty poorly. But it's perfect for slacks, dresses, sweaters; I even do my jeans. I especially love it because steam has sterilization properties. I think it keeps my clothes clean for longer between washes.

I loathe ironing as well, but am so glad you kept this dress despite its wrinkly tendencies. It's simply lovely.

Ugh, I hate ironing... I usually just throw things in the dryer for a few minutes. Is that bad?

I adore that cardigan- I am looking for one just like that, but in Orange. Not an easy tasks let me tell you. Also, again, I love your bag- you have the cutest ones.

Much love,
Amy

What a great dress! I love the OTK socks over the tights with it. And that cardigan is one AWESOME family heirloom.

Dinner sounds delish! I don't always look up the menu beforehand, but I should since I'm always so indecisive!

I'm with you on looking up the menu before going to the restaurant. In fact...I'm going to do that for tonight's dinner right now.

I bought a big clothing steamer because I hate ironing so much - it handles most stuff, and what it doesn't I save for my mom :)

Love the sweater!

Your whole outfit is great and I really like that dress.

What restaurant is that? I wish you would Yelp so I could read about all these places. I love when you talk food!

I don't even own an iron, so that tells you how much I loathe ironing! I refuse. If something looks like it will need to be ironed, I won't even buy it. Me = LAZY.

I adore that sweater, and I really like your hair like that!

I've used my iron once in the two years I've been in this apartment.

I wish I had a family heirloom that wearable. What a great backstory!

And on a non-today's-outfit note, I am so so disappointed that the Target boots you ordered look way better on you than they do on me. I think mine are going back. I cannot seem to pull off boots.

That sweater is beautiful! And yes, I totally pre-plan my meals. Hell, I'm hitting up a happy hour tomorrow night and I'm pre-planning my appetizers!

The print on that dress is SUPERB. Also, I really love the thigh-high socks. You look super-fab!

Cute outfit! I also look up restaurant menus before I go. I love to pick out what I want, or at least narrow down my choices, before I get there. The only thing better than eating good food is deciding what to eat!

That sweater!!!!! I swoon. The pendant is beautiful, too.

Great dress! I like the soft colors in this outfit. They look great with your coloring.

I feel you on the ironing. I haven't done it in over 2 years! That is a great dress though. SO worth ironing.

And get out of the city about the pendant! What a great deal! LOVE it!

What a special story behind a nifty cardigan. I like the look. Don't know HOW you put things together so perfectly.
