I Met With Tax Lawyers Dressed Like This

It was casual Friday, so I was casual. But then I got pulled, last minute, into a meeting with 3 lawyers to discuss the finer points of tax law. Just in case you were wondering, tax law is boring. And when you are in a room of well dressed lawyers in a baby doll dress and skin tight jeans, you feel a little out of place. Even more so when you happen to be the only girl in the room.
But other than that, I liked it.

I know you know I’m not a huge jeans and a dress kind of girl. I only have 2 dresses I feel like I can make it work with, and I need the jeans in question to be really slim fit.

I normally reserve this skirt for weekends, and wear it with a pair of denim shorts. But It is so breezy and cool I wanted to make it work for the office. And please please please, if anyone knows where I can get a knee length, or slightly shorter hot pink petticoat to wear with this for a reasonable price, let me know. Because I think this dress just screams for a pink petticoat, but I have not been able to find one yet. (I've tried Hot Topic and the stripper store. I can't think where else to look.)

Seriously. It needs a petticoat. Brown would also do. Or cream.

In other news, I’ve decided not to do the jeans giveaway. I was not 100% down with a couple things that needed to happen. HOWEVER, as a replacement, I’ll be doing a Love Erin Designs give away starting TOMORROW. So check that out and I hope that it proves a welcome substitution.

Dress, Forever XXI
Denim Leggings, Target
Shoes, MIA via Urban Outfitters
Buckle bracelet, vintage
Wood Bangle, Target
Earrings, Love Erin Designs at Etsy

Try Etsy. I think there are a few stores that specialize in custom-color tutus and petticoats.

I love it! How does your work feel about you exposing your tattoo?
P.S. I think a "Love Erin" giveaway is super appropriate and you should open it up to us Canadians as well ;).
Looking sharp!

ahahahahah. I don't know if that was supposed to be funny or not, but it was hella funny and I knew after reading that sentence that a comment was necessary :)

When I was in lawschool, my tax professor thought I should become a tax lawyer. Let me tell you, tax law IS boring, even to tax lawyers, which is why I declined his suggestion.

Try Vintagehem.com
they have all kinds of slips with tulle similar to what you are looking for.

Will keep my eyes peeled for your petticoat, but love this look as-is!

Hmmm. Etsy has a handful of petticoats, as does amazon if I remember correctly. Good luck!

Ok, I think this may be the funniest thing I've read on a fashion blog to date!

Could be worse- you could have been wearing just the dress! I kid- I like this very much! It's cute and fun, and I happen to like the dress with jeans look.

I think a Love Erin Designs give away is *much* more exciting than a jeans giveaway!

i found this one, but it is in the UK: http://www.kathmanduonline.co.uk/index.cfm?page=modules/ecomm/ec_productdet.cfm&eccatid=3&ecscatid=67&ecprodid=5251

otherwise, maybe buy a plain white one + dye it yourself?

i found an etsy shop who will custom-dye them for you, but you have to provide the petticoat yourself: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=19471720

Hot Topic and the stripper store? Hahahaha! You poor, poor thing. What awful things to subject yourself to for a pink petticoat! Have you tried a costume shop or a dancewear store? I also think that getting a tailor to make it wouldn't be too expensive. I sew and I think it would be super easy to do. PM me on @forumz if you're interested...cjm11581.

Try Sock Dreams, they have a good selection of petticoats. I get most of my socks from them, they are pretty awesome :).

The floral print is fantastic. Lovely colors.

I would suggest Dallas Vintage in Plano http://dallasvintageshop.com/ it's like a crazy person's closet in there and they had tons of petticoats and what not.

You're kidding, right? There are colored crinolines all over the place online, as well as white ones everywhere with directions on how to dye them yourself. Etsy, eBay, any wedding place...
