Remember yesterday when I said Nathan was going to look for a denim jacket for me to make into a vest? Not only did he find one that was the perfect fit, the perfect wash and in great condition, he cut off the sleeves and washed and dried it so that it was ready for me to style when I got home.
Perfection, no? I guess I am officially riding the double denim train now. Where did I see this look? I know I saw it somewhere and immediately clocked it as something I wanted to do and something super thriftable, but I can’t remember if it was in a blog, a magazine, online elsewhere or in real life. If it was you, shout it out.
My main plan for this baby is to wear it with my floral dresses, ones I wear in the winter with my leather jacket. Don’t be surprised if I get bored halfway through the summer and trick it out with studs and chains.
I also plan to walk around acting like a Street Tuff. Popped collar and all. I will so kick over your trash can, Grandma. (But then I will totally pick it up, and put all the trash back in it, I am so sorry ma’am, I do not know what came over me.)
Why did no one tell me the answer to “OMG, what do I wear under this tunic?” Was “a sports bra”? It seems so obvious now, but I have to be honest and tell you…this is the first one I have ever bought, because I got tired of you k now, being all over the place when doing Pilates.
I am so looking forward to tonight. It’s my boy Shannon’s birthday and I get out of work at 6 and have to be up at his (30 minutes away or so) at 7:30, so it will be a mad dash to switch to flats*, eat, try and love on my dog and get going, but it looks like a good time. And I love me some Shannon. He’s a cool guy.
*I planned to wear my flat snakeskin sandals to work today but Nathan expressed and opinion that this outfit really called for heels, and I do like a man with an opinion on ladies fashion, so I wore the heels.

What a sweet guy. Great vest! Love the way you're working the double denim!
The print on that tunic is fantastic. I love it!!!!
This has to be one of the coolest outfits I've ever seen. The jeans fit you to perfection, the heels are awesome, the color of the sports bra plays on the darker denim, the flirtiness of the tunic under the tougher jacket - it's all wonderful. Great look!
BTW, if you don't want to wear a sports bra every time you wear that, I have a couple cheap bandeaus that I just put over my regular bras because I don't like the shape my sports bra gives me
Your man is the bee's knees. Very rockin' indeed.
I saw the double denim look and the vest in People's In Style mag. Great looks, love the vest!
Wha? You are going to put trash in that old lady's mailbox?
Love the idea of the sportsbra under a droopy neckline. I use AA bandeau bras. They are so pretty that I want them to show.
That's one rockin hot outfit. Love it! And yes, Nathan was correct - heels are definite with this look.
Looks great! Isn't it awesome to have your man looking out for your style?
Those jeans fit you so well - I love them with heals, Nathan was right!
Love the idea of putting something like this over a floral dress for spring/summer! Cute :)
I have to admit I have a severe love for sports bra's so I'm glad to know that you have entered the lovely and mysterious world of the uni-boob. From one boob log to the other, welcome.
LOVE the vest, very street tuff. Just go easy on the trash cans, will ya?
wow, you look great! If someone said to mean "denim vest" I would probably shudder, but I like this one on you. Top's great too.

On cool days the denim vest is good over a hoody.
I'm totally having jean vest flashbacks to the 80s, thanks a bunch, lol.
Wendy Brandes was going on about the denim tuxedo a while back. I've also done the double denim a few times.
Hey you're not just riding the double denim train, I think you're getting to conductor status. I'm intrigued and considering joining you.
Love the beautiful top.
And the horses on the tunic are totally a nod to the Oaks (filly race on 4/30) and the Kentucky Derby 5/1, right?
Even if it wasn't, it was. :)
xox,
Susan
Another picture to add to my next double-denim post!
Yup. Super rad, super hardcore, super awesome. I love everything about this!
Your Nathan is such a sweetheart! And I am totally stealing this look from you at some point, so if you find whoever you stole it off thank them on my behalf.
I can't believe he found that for you! Too great : )
Just added you to my post: http://tinyurl.com/33ph3yg
very cool! This jacket would also look good with your flowery ruffled skirt short dress and target biker boots.
