(So…OK. This dress is really short. Let’s just get that out of the way. I am not sure how I have managed to not notice that, but you know how I am. So. I will probably not wear it to WORK again.)
Look at all the pretty things Nathan thrifted! I know we have talked about it before, but my man has The Gift. I…not so much. Yesterday he had this amazing vintage Coach, a cream and brown vintage Dooney and Burke and this top for me. All in amazing shape and all right on trend. He’s on the lookout for a denim jacket for me now, so I can cut the sleeves off and make a vest, and I’ve no doubt he will find one. He found one for him and we made his vest last night and he looks SO FINE in it. I love it. I also think I overheard him tell the dog it made him look like a “street thug” and I agree, it does, in a good way.
So a couple weeks ago Hillary and Kasmira both posted pics of pettipants. I was like “what? How have I never heard of these before?” They are amazing and perfect.
I got a pair (in black) and I seriously cannot imagine how I ever lived without them. And the best part? They were all of 8 bucks. I got the 4 inch inseam. They are useful for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is transitioning shorter dresses from tights to summer weather. With these I still feel my modesty is being protected from, say, a big gust of wind, or a book on a high shelf. Anyway, I think you can see them peeking out of my too short dress in some of my pictures today. The Amazon seller I got mine from was also really prompt about shipping. I think I had them 3 days after ordering.
That shirt fits like a dream and I, being the Trendy McTrenderson that I am, am so pleased to have it and from a thrift store, no less. It was handmade, there are no tags and a few telling "flaws", but it's perfect. I washed it last night and hung it to dry so I could wear it today. Because I am that impatient.
*Swoon* Am I right? I used conditioning wipes on it last night and the leather is just in perfect condition now. And I love that the strap comes off so I can also use it as a clutch. I had to really work at getting it to work as a day bag. I had to leave a lot of stuff behind, but again..impatient. I like to use/wear new things NOW. Do you do that? How long do you wait to wear something new? (That nail polish is “My Network” by Milani and it has been holding up REALLY well. It's two coats, no base coat, no top coat. A nice 14K gold color. I packed and unpacked boxes yesterday at work and it stayed almost perfect. I’m really impressed.)
I rarely wear these earrings, but aren’t they fun? And I thought with such a simple outfit they were perfect…
They are not Twilight related. I’m just sayin’.

That bag! What a find. My friend Nina also has THE GIFT and luckily likes finding stuff for me, too. Good to know someone like that.
I've been wondering whatever happened to those earrings--I'm happy to see them again! And I might have to get some of those pettipants myself!!!
I love the shirt - especially since it's handmade! Such a classic bag too! I almost always wear "new" things right too! It's exciting to find new things to style!
That bag is an awesome find! Also, those earrings make me smile :- How fun.
Thanks for the tip about the pettipants, by the way. I'm definitely considering it!
What a great outfit, love it! I'm seriously impressed and slightly envious of your man's thrifting skills. Hope he finds you a great jeans jacket :)
Also, I can never wait after
getting new anything. It has to be worn/used right away :D
I totally get you on the long and short of it... but there are some days you say - what the heck, I'm wearing it anyway. Hence me in my petite length red dress - thank goodness for the cardi to cover up the boobage - but hey, I'm going out right after work so I have to play chameleon. You look fab!
I love the old-fashioned Coach bags - both the style you have and the related one with the leather-covered bar across the top. They just get better with age, look awesome even when they're beat up, and last forever - at least one of mine was passed on to me by my grandmother! The new logo jacquard ones, eh, not so much.
The earrings are super-cute, and great with this outfit!
I love the black, brown and pale blue together!
PETTIPANTS! I am so buying a pair or two for myself. How perfect are those! Love it.
I've been in that situation before- where you accidentally wear something too short for work. I used to be an admin assistant, and found this awesome skirt... and was running late one morning, decided it would be awesome, got to work, sat down, gulped and spent the entire day wedged uncomfortably under the desk so that no one could see just how short the skirt actually was.
just stumbled upon your blog! really cool.
we have similar bloggerness...

I bought some pettipants over the winter but they're super long - that pair looks WAY more useful!
Another amazing bag find ... I'm so impressed.
This Nathan you speak of truly is a magic man.
Love it.
Wow, fabulous find with that Coach bag! I love the classic ones.
Also, I am convinced; I need to order some pettipants.
what an amazing bag! and shirt! How lovely to have a boyfiend wholikes to thrift AND most important thrifts for you!
I think I need pettipants now!
Nathan should consider a business as a professional thrifter. Like a stylist, but of the thrifting variety. Or at the very least, he should be reselling some of his killer finds!
Your husband definitely has the gift! I love your earrings and a certain Duran Duran song popped into my mind the second I saw the picture.
Must. buy. pettipants. and wolf earrings! This is so rad!
I love pettipants! They keep clingy skirts from wadding up on my thighs as I walk. So much better than slips!
And oh my god, that bag is delicious! The color is perfect and the leather looks so soft. Nathan is a thrifting genius!
hear hear about the pettipants!
They're great under a straight jeans skirt, as Audi says - no bunch-up.
i do the same thing about wanting to wear new stuff NOW.
as in, literally, as i type this i'm wearing a cardigan i bought (for a whopping $2!! so proud of my bargain buys) this afternoon. haha
yes, the dress is short...but with some solid leggings or tights, or even a pair w/ a subtle pattern, you wouldn't feel so exposed...
