You Are Also Very Stylish

I’ve been down you guys. A combination of factors has made me in not such a super mood and also really affected my self esteem. I’ve had to really make an effort to dress well, as what I really feel like doing is wearing my “giving up” pants and tee shirt.

So it was especially uplifting and welcome when I got a compliment from a stranger today. An older gentleman came up to me at the grocery store today and said:

“I just had to cross the store and come say to you that not only are you very pretty, oh no, you are, you are*…but you are also very stylish. That ensemble is just wonderful. And I couldn’t see them across the store, but those earrings are just fabulous! I just thought you should know it is wonderful to see such a pretty girl with such style these days.”

OH MY GOODNESS. I mean, I cannot think of a better compliment, can you?
And here is the outfit he liked so much…

August 3

I didn’t even think much of it to be honest!~ I was lacking in accessories and I felt kind of underdressed.

I was going to stop wearing boots until it got closer to Fall, but you know what? It’s cold indoors, y’all!~ And also, I don’t know if you have noticed or not, but I tend to do what I want. And I want to wear boots. So I am.

P.Bitty likes to hang out and get all underfoot and be a blur in pictures and really hassle me, but the second I actually try and let him be in the picture he looks like I just took away his Dingo**. Am I right?

I think we might be required by law to have at least one pair of cowboy boots to reside here in Texas. I have two, so I think I’m safe. But I thrifted them both. If I could have any boots I wanted, I'd want distressed brown leather, the kind you have to oil, with turquoise textured inserts. Maybe Ostrich.

The earrings you could not see from across the store, but are in fact fabulous…

*I made that face you do, you know the one, when you get slightly embarrassed at being called pretty. But you really LIKE being called pretty and also do not want to be rude? That one.

I'm a bad Texan. I don't own cowboy boots. I wear my Docs when the situation calls for boots. If I owned boots, they'd have to be some kind of lace up. I have ENORMOUS calves.

I've been very down and I've been meaning to email you to see if you could share some tips with me. I'll get right on that.

I'm so happy you got what you needed yesterday. That is great.

I do SO LOVE a skirt and cowboy boots. SO MUCH. Sadly, my cowboy boots, although they are awesome, and that cool distressed leather you like on the foot part, are pink on the top part, and while I love pink, they happen to be the exact same color pink as my legs, so don't look as awesome on me as those black ones do on you.

Also love that dress and my favourite sweater. He was right.

Those are the kinds of compliments that you remember forever, melt your heart, and just make you want to love the world, aren't they?

That is fantastic! What a wonderful man - i love it when people say unpredicted niceties. It's a good reminder to do it ourselves too.

I'm a good texan - i have two pairs. One red and one light brown boots. Also thrifted. The brown ones aren't "real" cowboy boots (probaby came from macys), but they are perfect during rodeo and easy to walk in.

Hope your week keeps improving!

I love this outfit, and that guy is awesome for walking over to tell you that! I know you do that for other people, so I'm glad that someone else did it for you. :)

What a nice little pick-me-up! I like the outfit- the sleek looking wrap top is a good contrast to the frilly dress. And the earrings are quite fantastic.

Hope things start perking up for you!

I LOVE the dingo-less doggie expression. I have cats, and I love them, but they don't make the funny faces dogs do!

Random compliments are the best. Both to give and to receive, I think.

Wow, how awesome is that? I love that even random strangers acknowledge your awesome style. You deserve to be recognized for that!

Do they make non-leather cowboy boots? I don't think I could ever be a Texan! :(

I really hope things will get better soon. You're my favourite girl evar! <3
