A Million Ancient Bees Began To Sting Our Knees

I don’t know why I feel the need to mention it every time, but I do! This is my Blogs First Dress. I remember buying this at Urban Outfitters YEARS ago. It was on sale, it had originally been like 60 bucks, you know how they do over there, and it was reduced to like 30 bucks. That was still a lot for a dress, but I bought it. And I have never regretted it. At this point it is full of picks and runs, but the pattern of the fabric makes them pretty much unnoticeable. I can’t believe how well it is holding up to be honest!

Every time I wear it, I try on several different jackets and cardigans, and I almost always end up with this one. The floaty-ness of the cardigan and the floaty-ness of the dress just go really well together.

I am in love with those clogs. I admit, it is possible I have made a bit of a fashion misstep with them. Sometimes I look at them and think they are the height of style and so cute and sometimes I think they are just this side of the geriatric wing of the hospital. But the truth is, either way, I love them.

April 28

They are much more comfortable than I could have hoped for and if I could afford to I would turn around and order the tan color right now. I actually had a hard time deciding between the two in the beginning and went back and forth over which pair would go with more things, but in the end I felt it was six of one, half a dozen of another and ordered the black.

What do you think? Are you on board with the return of clogs? Are you only on board with some styles (like the gorgeous Jeffery Campbell Charli-C high heeled ones), or all of them? Did you wear them in the past? (When was the last time they were popular, the nineties?) I know I have had some before, and I know that a lot of people will say that if you wore it the first time around then you are too old for it the second time around and to those people I say “Please go see Ms Wendy B, so she can set you straight.”

I really like the clogs- I've never had a pair, and I've never paid them much attention, but I really like the way they contrast with the dress. Also, from the closeup of them, they really emphasise your delicate ankles. I think they're a winner!

Great dress!

I ask myself every day if I am on board with the return of clogs, so that's a great question to pose in a post.

I'm on board with other people sporting clogs--and you do it so well, not at all geriatric, like you were concerned about. I've seen lots of outfits with clogs pulled off very nicely.

I think I'm not completely on board with clogs FOR MYSELF yet. I've got to find that one great pair to convince me still, I think.

I completely understand the clog question. I sometimes think mine are great, sometimes they are awful. I actually bought mine the last time they were in style (like 5 years ago) and almost got rid of them last spring. Now they're back and I'm still trying to decide if I like them.

Oooh that dress is really cute. I thought it was new, so really the only person who knows about the picks and run is you.

I love the dress and cardigan combo. The clogs look great on you.
I have thought long and hard about clogs. I like the way they look on others but I actually don't want to go there because they are so comfy, that I may become one of those female professors who ONLY wears clogs. And still think I am too young for that.

I do love the JCs and higher heeled clogs, but ended up with some much tamer/ortho looking ones myself. And love 'em.

This dress/cardi combo is so lovely. No wonder you keep coming back to it!

I don't think those look geriatric at all! I'm totally on board with the return of clogs, but fear that I look like I should be refilling the flour bins at our co-op.

I love the clogs!

I love the floaty dress! I do like some clogs, but I only own one pair (Fluevog MJ clogs). I really wanted a pair of the JC clogs in tan or beige but by the time I was ready to pony up the cash, I couldn't find them in my size.

Oooh, how fun, the blog's first dress! It's awesome you still have it and still wear it! I love clogs, always have... I have 3?4? pairs and none of them are very new. I think the studs and braiding on yours keep them young and hip!

I wore clogs in the mid-90s. I bought a pair from J. Crew with money from my high school job, back when things from J. Crew were slightly more affordable or I was less cheap.

i have never been a fan of clogs. my personal clog-mantra has always been "no way, no how."
but hey, thats just me.
the beauty of this world is that we each get to do what we like, right?

this dress is lovely. :)

I love that clogs are back in style, because I love mine! they might be a little on the ugly side, but I think they're cute, and man are they good for the footsies.

also that dress is gorgeous and you're right about the sweater... perfect!

I'm digging the clogs. In fact, I've been considering getting a pair myself. I always feel geriatric in them, but think that everyone else looks great inthem, so I just need to get over it and get a pair. You've def inspired me.

I love those clogs! Not geriatric in the least - especially with the braiding and studs. And being White Mountain, I'm sure they're super comfy. They look really cool with that dress, too. I just love my wardrobe workhorses!

For the most part I don't think I'm riding the clog train. Yours are kinda cute, but most of them are just so fugly.
Love your dress though. Tried one a little bit like it at H&M today. Your whole outfit's great.

very flowy and feminine outfit, cute!

I had clogs the first time around, and now I can't decide how I feel about them. They look good on other people, but I dont know if I can make them work for me.

love the clogs, have been wearing them for years.

the trouble with the whole "if you wore it the first time..." theory is that, eventually, if you live long enough, you'd be left with nothing to wear. everything old is new again...

I wore clog in high school. Yes, the 90s. I'm not a fan right now, but I'm really enjoying the more feminine flats. Perhaps in the fall I'll enjoy a clog.

I do love that cardigan with the dress. So pretty.

A. I feel so cool for recognizing the Regina Spektor quote!
B. I love the look of clogs SO MUCH...but, I find them horribly uncomfy. My toes feel like they have to grasp hold of the shoes to keep them on ALL DAY. So, I have clog envy.
C. Lovely, lovely outfit.

I love your outfit, I think this has been one of my favorite outfits that you have posted. I like the clogs, its all about how you wear it and you look great

Love this outfit, it's so flowy and feminine. And have I gushed over your hair lately?

I'm with you on the clogs!

They are great summer shoes - that don't require painted nails!

And I love anything that "clomps."

I've always wondered if clogs were comfortable... They look heavy & stiff to me, but secretly, I've been wanting a pair.
