New Necklaces

I like today’s outfit and am disappointed I couldn’t get better pictures. I needed to be able to take pictures outside to really show you how all the shades of grey go together, but it was so dark and nasty I just couldn’t get a good one. I may end up replacing the pics later, I may not. Anyway, these are what you get for now.

I realized after seeing pictures that this skirt makes me look like I have big hips. This is probably more due to the fact that I am a 4/6 and the skirt is an 8, and I have just refused to replace it with a more fitted one than anything else, and even having seen how wide it makes me look…I’m still not replacing it. I also decided to untie the cardigan after I got to work, and it looks a bit more relaxed.

These boots look like I spent a lot more on them than I did, and I love the elephant color. Not grey, not brown. Goes with anything. And I almost forgot I had them, because I went for so long without black tights!

This is the necklace I bought myself Saturday, I’ve been wanting it for over a month, and was so glad to finally be able to buy it. I COULD have bought it earlier, but I enjoy bumping up Erin's numbers at events.

And I’m STILL wearing the one Nathan got me. I like the way they look layered together.

I really love this one, Erin--it's got a very structured look that I can never quite pull off, and it looks fantastic on you! I love all the shades of grey too. And those booties are fabulous!

Hi, I'm a new fan and found your site through Kasmira - I love your style and we wear the same glasses! I'll be checking in for new outfit inspiration since if I'm not careful I fall into a khaki pants and button down, 3/4 length striped shirt rut - it is not pretty. I love Target too and get most of my clothes from there, the Gap (if they're on sale) and thrifting.

You don't look hippy at all!

I love the necklaces and the outfit...I don't think you look hippy either.

are those slash pockets on the skirt? in the second photo they seem to be gapping, if they are (its too dark to tell!) you just just sew them closed- it will probably solve the hippy illusion- i think it's just the fabric gapping since its a big size. i do that all the time with slash pockets- love the look otherwise!

Thank you thank you for saying I don't look hippy. XOXO, and Kiran, they TOTALLY ARE. I bet that is the problem.

Totally digging the elephant-colored booties. I bought a grey suede pair for fall and am AMAZED by how versatile they are!

Wow, I REALLY like this. I don't think the skirt makes your hips too big at all (you're so tiny!), and it looks fantabulous with that cardigan! I love the greys/black together. Very "put together" looking & kind of hott secretary-ish!

Good grief girl, I could show you hips! You look tiny! Loving the shape of this outfit, and those boots are just gorgeous!

Can you tailor the skirt? It's usually only $10 - $20 to take something in.

I freaking love that shirt and those shoes.

hey erin,
just wanted to check in and see if you took my advice--- i just did a big mending session where i sewed shut a bunch of slash pockets on trousers and trust me, it did wonders- it changes the whole shape of a garment that makes a hippie illusion, booo to slash pockets!

I'm also a new fan who found your blog through Kasmira. I particularly love the shapes and textures of this outfit, and I was wondering both how you tied the cardigan (is it knotted in back?), and what color it actually is--in various pictures it looks grey, violet, or even pinkish.

Kiran,

Not yet. I am not sure I will. I USE pockets a lot at work!~ I cart keys anf things around pretty often...

Lark,
Hello!~
It's called "vintage black" and it is a dark grey. It basically looks like black that had faded. The way it's tied here is that I have looped once in front, and then pulled the ends around back and tied them. I can't recommend this cardigan enough, it's so versatile. Everyone should have two.
